Beardstown; is a native of Cornwall, England; born Sept. 23, 1834; son of Samuel and Catharine (Mutton) Tink, also natives of Cornwall, England, and both still living. Samuel Tink, a farmer, was born March 4, 1797; his wife was born in 1807; they are the parents of ten children. Richard received his education in the schools of his native country, and began life as a farmer, and has remained in that occupation ever since on the place where he now resides. In Beardstown, this county, Nov. 14, 1861, he married Mary Mutton, a native of Cornwall, England, daughter of William and Elizabeth Mutton; three children have been born from this union: Edmund S., Richard G., and Cora E. Mr. Tink is connected with the M.E. Church; he is a member of Ark Lodge, No. 23, A.F. & A.M., and also of the I.O.O.F., in Beardstown; is a Republican; has been School Director during the years 1877- 78-79, and has been Supervisor of Roads some time.
