Cass County GOTTHALF JOKISCH, deceased, was born in Saxony, Feb. 22, 1820; son of Charles G. and Mary E. (Jacob) Jokisch, natives of Saxony, and parents of fifteen children, nine boys and six girls. Charles G. Jokisch, born June 20, 1796, was a farmer and distiller, and died in this county Oct. 9, 1851; his wife, born in 1794, died Jan. 24, 1835, in St. Louis, Mo., while on the way to this county. Gotthalf was always a farmer. In this county, Dec. 12, 1846, he married Eleanor Carls, a native of Hanover, Germany, born Nov. 2, 1824, who bore him ten children: Mary, Maurice, Philip, Matilda, Amelia, Edward, Harry, Theophilus (deceased), George (deceased), and Otto (deceased).
