Chandlerville; is a native of Wurtemberg, Germany, and son of Martin and Margaret Herrmann. He was born Feb. 16, 1824. His father was born in Germany, and during his life followed the occupation of a farmer; he died in 1846, aged sixty-five years. His mother was also a native of Germany. She died in 1853, aged seventy-two years. Our subject was educated in the common schools of Germany, and when quite young was apprenticed at the shomaker's trade, which he followed in Germany until 1848, when he came to America. He made his first stop in Mason County, where he worked at his trade for six years, and then began farming. He came to Cass County in 1876, and is now the owner of 560 acres of land. In November, 1823, he married Catharine Smith, who has borne him five children: Leonard, Henry, Catharine, Fred, and Josephine, all of whom are at home. Mr. Herrmann and family are religiously connected with the German Lutheran Church. He is a thorough business man, and highly esteemed by the community, and is always first in any public enterprise.
