Welcome to the Bishop Hill Colony, an early attempt at communal living in Henry County, Illinois in the 1800's.

If you are researching someone from Bishop Hill, you will also want visit the Henry County ILGenWeb Project site for listings of surname researchers, lookup volunteers and to post and read queries related to Henry County Genealogy. The Bishop Hill Colonist's database is so large in scope and specific to Bishop Hill that this separate "section" of the Henry County site has become necessary to house it.

We are sorry but we have had to remove the "Bishop Hill Colonists and Descendants" database from the website.  It is not clear at this time whether we will be able to make this information available againat a later date
