James R. Sherman is postmaster at Grafton, in which place he settled in 1878. He was born in Genesee Co., N. Y., June 15, 1827. In 1847_he emigrated to Racine, Wis., where he married, April 9, 1853, Nancy B. Mosher, a native of Washington Co., N. Y. They lived in Wood and Marquette counties until 1861, then removed to La Crosse county. In 1878 they emigrated to their present home. They are the parents of four children-Ger-sham, Ida, Belle and Sadie.
