H. O. Holand was born in Norway, Aug. 10, 1841. In 1867 he went to Winneshiek Co., Iowa where he lived until 1871, when he went to Minnesota, and in 1875 came to Fertile township. He settled on section 33, where he still resides, and owns 162 ½ acres of land. He was married, to Mary Larson , born in Winneshiek Co., Iowa, Aug. 20, 1856. They are the parents of five children - Albert, Martin, Eda, Georgianna and Sophia. All are members of the Lutheran Church.
