Jerry E. Thompson, 62, retired department store salesman, died Wednesday, August 29, 1984, in a Sioux City hospital after being stricken in his home.  He had been ill for a long time.  Services were held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, September 1, 1984, in the Lawton, IA Community Presbyterian Church with Rev. Robert Peters of Community Presbyterian Church and Rev. Hugh G. Miller of Westmisister Presbyterian Church officiating.  Vocalist Lorna Peters sang  "The Old Rugged Cross", and "Amazing Grace", accompanied by organist Ruby Wilson.  Casket bearers included David Oakes, Doyle Vondrak, Douglas Thompson, Steven Thompson, Kyle Hayworth and David Thompson.  Burial was in the Fairfield Cemetery, Rock Branch.  A prayer service was held at 7:30 P. M. today at the Nelson-Berger Morningside Chapel.  Mr. Thompson was born April 10, 1922, in rural Anthon, IA, where he was raised.  He married Betty Hayworth August 26, 1940 in Anthon.  They lived in Moville, IA until 1968 when they moved to Lawton.  She died June 28, 1978, in Sioux City.  He married Beulah Boe May 16, 1981 in Lawton.  He was a salesman for Montgomery Ward & Co., retiring in 1971 due to poor health.  He also farmed in the Moville area.  He was a member of the Lawton Community Presbyterian Church and Eagles Lodge of South Sioux City.  Survivors include his wife, sons Marvin of Moville, Mark and Merlin both of Bronson, daughters Margie (Mrs. Ron) Synovec of Pierce, NE, Marilyn (Mrs Dan) Wallage of Tulsa, OK, and Marcia  (Mrs. Dan) Martin of Lincoln, NE, two brothers Walt and Fred of Anthon, and sister Virgie (Mrs. Wm.) Fickhold of Anthon, and 16 grandchildren.  A memorial has been established with the Heart Fund.  NOTE:  According to his death record he died from acute myocardial infarction - arteriosclerotic heart disease and congestive heart failure.  He had undergone two heart surgeries, one a valve replacement
