    Correctionville Public Library

On October 2, 1899, a group of local citizens met for the purpose of organizing a library association.  A constitution was adopted and a board of directors as follows:  President – MRs William M Wright; Vice-President – Earl Edmunds; Secretary – Bert P Mills; Treasurer – Mrs F W Woodruff.  By Saturday, November 11, 1899, the library and 270 volumes were catalogued and ready to use.  These books were contributed by residents.  They decided to open the same day.  T B Morris was the librarian.  The library was located in the Castle Bros. jewelry store and open twice a week.

The library moved to their new quarters located in the east room on the second floor of the then new City Hall, above the Fire Station.  By this time the library had a total of 1376 books.  Mrs F W Woodruff was the librarian.

July 1, 1950, the Correctionville Library Association became the Correctionville Public Library.  In June 1955, it moved to the present location in the Community building.  The library now has a total of approximately 14,000 volumes.
