How To Submit Photographs

Questions and Answers

Q. I have some photos I would like to submit, what do I do?

A. If you have a photo or photos you would like to post here, just follow these guidelines:

Scan your pictures at 72 dpi or as close to 72 as you can.  If you can, make the image size no larger than 5" x 5".  (This will enable the photos to load much faster and conserve disk space. I can resize them also.)

Include any information that will help identify the picture. (photographer's name and location, identity of photo subject, etc. Please try to identify the county for me.

Q.  Not sure which county the place is in?

Try this: http://resources.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/townco.cgi)

A. Include the Iowa county name or describe the connection that the photo has to Iowa.

Post your photo to Iowa Orphaned Treasures.

If you need special help editing your photo, contact the Webmaster, or post to mailto:[email protected] or [email protected] or contact any County Coordinator in the IAGenWeb Project.

Q. What if I don't own a scanner?

A. If you don't own a scanner, contact me and we'll make arrangements to get your photos posted.

Q. What about the adoption fee?

A. Your name and E-mail address will be posted with the photos you submit. If someone would like to adopt a picture you have posted, they will contact you directly about the adoption fee.

Adoption fees will include the price paid for the item plus postage to send it. If you don't own a scanner and had to make a photocopy to get to get the image posted include this and the postage costs in the adoption fee.

Q. What if I have other orphan family memorabilia items I would like to post such as family bibles, wills, etc.

A. Please post it to the IOWA Orphaned Family Treasures Request Board

If you're not sure if what you have should be listed here, please email me and I will let you know if it is appropriate for this website.
