By Phyllis (Dunn) Fulk, 1996, Pg175
"Covenanter Cemetery Families"
ALEXANDER McKEOWN early years was spent in Northern Ireland where he received his education, and married a native Ireland girl ROSANNA "ROSE" GLASGOW; born about 1800. Like so many others in Ireland, they pushed westward to America. About 1823-4 they bade farewell to their native land, (ROSE'S parents came to Guernsey County, Ohio) and arrived in Belmont Co., Ohio.
ALEXANDER McKEOWN Sr. was a Weaver by trade, and was active in politics with the Whig party. He was a man of kindly disposition and of great strength of character, and was respected by all. His wife ROSANNA (GLASGOW) McKEOWN, was a widow for 34 years, She was among those identified with charitable and other beneficial objects, and rank among the people whose presence does so much to make a community better and happier.

"Covenanter Cemetery Families"
WILLIAM H. McKEOWN was raised on his fathers farm in Harrison Co., Ohio and farming was always his vocation. At the break out of the Civil War he was 20 years old and he joined the 87th. Ohio Vol. Inf., Company "H", and was sent to Baltimore, as well as to Harper's Ferry. While at the latter place the regiment was captured, but the members thereof were paroled, and WILLIAM H. McKEOWN returned home after the war in 1865. After the young couple marriage in 1867 they remained on the original homeplace until 1885, at the age of 42 WILLIAM H. McKEOWN and family removed to Sublett, [Adair Co.] Missouri, remaining their, however but three years, when they returned to the home place, where they resided the remainder of their life. In politics WILLIAM H. McKEOWN was a Republican, heartily supporting his ticket, and served in various offices of honor, among which was that of a Republican trustee for several terms. The family worshiped at the United Presbyterian Church at Londonderry, Guernsey, Co., Ohio for many years.

The following is the obituary which appeared in a local paper.

Newspaper  The Freeport Newspaper,
 Publication Date: September 2, 1890
Jim McKEOWN, dies at his home near Freeport, Ohio,
JAMES G. McKEOWN, aged 20 years. Interred at Londonderry September 3, funeral services conducted by Rev. J. W. TAYLOR. The deceased was the only son of WILLIAM and NANCY McKEOWN.
Three years of his life were spent with his parents and sister near Sublett, [Adair Co.] Missouri. The remainder of his life was passed at his home near this place. He was absent from home when he was taken sick, but returned home at once and consulted a physician. Continuing to grow worse, two other physicians were summoned, but the skill of all was baffled by his disease, which his physicians termed "typho-malaria fever" He united with the United Presbyterian Church at Londonderry in his 15th year. Young and of full of life's youthful vigor and joys, but not a stranger to deep thought or meditation upon serious things which evidenced upon his death bed, by resigning himself to God, and assuring his parents that God doeth all things for the best. His sufferings were severe, which he bore with great patience. Being early made acquainted with the Scriptures, they afforded him much consolation in time of trial. His mind was clear, and his faith unshaken to the last. The family, community and friends have experienced and inexpressible loss. He had a large circle of friends, and was loved and respected by all
