The family beionged to the Kel Iswater Church, the oldest Covenanter Congregation in the Irish Church. Robert was a weaver by trade and some of his daughters did hand weaving but when machinery came they could not compete.
They came to America. Some of the daughters came first then the rest of the family in 1857. They came to Philadelphia, sailing from Liverpool and took 4 weeks. They went to Missouri, either Albany or st. Louis and after 2 years came to Clarinda. They lived east of the church for awhile then bought land straight north of the church. Robert and Mary joined the Clarinda Reformed Presbyterian Church Sep 1859. He was elected Elder in 1865.

 Mrs. Mary B. McCRORY,
 Obituary - Issue: June 2nd, 1885
Mary B. McCRORY, who died June 2nd, 1885, aged 76 years, was born in County Antrim, Ireland, and was raised in the Presbyterlan Church. She joined with her husband rhe R.P. Church, at Kellmwater, under the late Rev. James DICK. She, with her husband and family, emigrated to America in 1857, coming to Page County, Iowa, in the Spring of 1861, uniting with the Clarinda Congregation, where she lived a consistent Christian life till her death.
By her cheerfull disposition she made friends with all whom she met. Although very much bent with age, she leaned on the arm of her Redeemer, whose rod and staff were her confort. She has passed to her reward. Her end was peace. "Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord." by: J.C.A.

THE DENISON, KANSAS REFORMED PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH:
Covenanter Church, Denison, Jackson Co., Kansas.   The McCRORYs were active in the Denison Church. It was organized 6 October 1871. With 56 Charter Members the Communion service marked the first time Communion had ever been held in the community. The Deacons chosen were Samuel Patterson, Simon McCRORY and Andrew Law. The Elders chosen were John Law, Hugh Woodburn. and John Wright. Almost as soon as the building was finished they realized it was too small. With its frail walls, dirt floors and hard benches it was very uncomfortable. A new building was built and Kansas Presbytery was held presumably in it October 20, 1874. That summer drouth came and also the grasshoppers. They finished off the crops. The church lost twenty members by letter and some just left.
Then in 1876 crops were abundant and people began to go back to Denison. The church building was badly proportioned and was roof heavy and had to be repaired so they wanted to do it in time for fall Communion. A wind storm destroyed the building before the day of Communion. It was held in the Tippinville School. The present Church building was built in 1884.
