Robert C. was born on 22nd Feb. 1866, in Tarkio, Page County, Iowa; 
died on 23rd Oct. 1933, in Page County, Iowa, at the age of 
67 years, 8 months and 1 day; Buried along side his wife in the
"Summit Cemetery" (Section 30, of Nodaway Twp.) Row 10, Lot 27.
ROBERT C. LOY, was only 10 years old when his father died in 1876, 
and he had to endure the hardships of young childhood on his own. 
When he was 23 years of age on the 27th Feb. 1889, in Page County, 
Iowa married the 20 year old Miss CORDELIA "Della" LAFFERTY, 
(2nd d/o ELEZER L. LAFFERTY and MARGARET ANN (HARKNESS) LAFFERTY. 
born on 13th Nov. 1868, Lynn Twp., Knox Co., IL.
died on 08th Jan. 1962, at the age of 93 years, 1 month and 25 days, in 
Page County, Iowa; Buried along side her husband (Lot 26)

ROBERT C. LOY and his wife CORDELIA (LAFFERTY) LOY are buried in the "Summit Cemetery", located in (Section 10) of Nodaway Township, Page County, Iowa. Based on a beginning point of the North East corner going South and East going West, they are located in the 10 Row and Lots 26 and 27. Note the headstone on ROBERT C. LOY reads "Father 1868 - 1933" two years later than other records. There also is a grave site on Lot 28 next to ROBERT C. LOY that reads SUSAN LOY b. 1860 - d. 1943. (his sister) [REF:#17] EARLY HISTROY OF YORKTOWN, IOWA - 1882 Yorktown was platted on 03 Apr. 1882, a petition was filled for incorporation on 23 Feb. 1898. The population was about 200 people, and [Robert] C. LOY was one of the petitioners, and was one of the first city councilmen. R.C. LOY - Obit 23 Oct. 1933 The funeral services held at the M.E. Church at Yorktown Wednesday afternoon for R.C. LOY, one of the largest crowdes ever held in Yorktown. The Church was full, many standing and many more were unable to get inside the building. Rev. T.G. KELLY, the pastor had charge of the services and gave a very able address. He also at request of the friends sang a salo accompanied on the piano by Mrs. Clyde APPLE. She also played the voluntary. Mrs. Winn BROWN of Shenandoah sang three solos, accompaied by Mrs. Ermal McMICHEL. The floral offerings were many and very beautiful. The entire community mourn with Mrs. LOY and family at the loss of their friend. The pall bearers were: Fred MITTS, Herbert DUTTON, Wm. SNODGRASS, Wm. CHAFFIN, Alva MILLER, Wm. LAWSON, Mrs. M.L. V??fney, Mrs. M.H. Young and Mrs. Wm. CHAFFIN were in charge of the flowers. Robert Columbus LOY, son of Isaac and Jane LOY was born near Norwich, Page Co., IA; February 22, 1866. He passed away in the hospital in St. Joseph, MO. Oct. 23, 1933, at the age of 67 years and seven months. He was one of a large family of twelve children, five dying in infancy and of the others: Nancy, Charley, Johnny, preceded him in death. He is survived by three sisters: Miss Susan LOY, of Yorktown. Mrs. Alice CRAIG, of Clarinda. Mrs. Ida CURNUTT, of shenandoah. His father passed away when he was nine [1875] leaving a large share of the burden of caring for the family on his young sholders, a task that he was ever faithful to. He chose farming as his vocation in life when but a small boy and was successful in all his undertakings. His mother departed this earth in 1904. He grew to manhood in the same community and on February 27, 1889 he was united in marriage to Miss Cordelia LAFFERTY. To this union two daughters were born, Mrs. Earl ANNAN and Mrs. Ross KNOX, both of Yorktown. He had been in failing health for several years. At the times his suffering seemed almost unbearable, but he always looked forward to better health, even in his last illness. Being unable to converse with his family at the last, he always had a smile for them. Everything medical science and a loving family cpuld do for him was done, but to no avail. During his last illness he received the baptism of the church. His passing will long be mourned in this community, where his happy smile and unfailing good nature, together with his honesty and intrerity endeared him to all. He leaves to mourn his going his fathful wife, his daughters and their husbands and six grandchildren: <--should be seven grandchildren ..prs) George ANNAN, Melvin ANNAN, Fern ANNAN, Irene ANNAN, [Lee Roy WARDEN] <--Missing from Obit! THE FOLLOWING ARE THE TWO DAUGHTERS OF: ROBERT C. and CORDELIA (LAFFERTY) LOY: 3.1.1 NINA LOY; (1st Dau of Robert C. & Cordelia (Lafferty) Loy) b. 25th Nov. 1890, in Lincoln Twp., just Southwest of Yorktown. When still a small child she moved with her parents about 1 1/2 mile Northwest of Yorktown, and then later in 1904 she relocated with her family again to a farm just outside of Yorktown on East Washington Street. REF:#19] NINA LOY was a member of the 1906 Yorktown School, Sophomore Class. On February 12, 1912 at the age of 23 EARL H. ANNAN married Miss NINA LOY. The marriage took place in her parent's home at high noon. The ceremony was performed by Rev. BARTLEY who officiated at both parent's wedding. The day of the wedding was blistering cold with the roads packed with snow and relatives coming to the wedding took the train to Essex, in Pierce Twp., Iowa, changed trains in Shenandoah, Pierce Twp., then back to Yorktown, in Nodaway Twp., where ROBERT C. LOY met them with a bobsled to take them to the farm. CORDELIA (LAFFERTY) LOY and her other daughter ONA LOY, served over 100 guests a turkey dinner. EARL H. ANNAN and NINA (LOY) ANNAN observed their 50th wedding in 1974. EARL H. and NINA (LOY) ANNAN had four children born from this union, two sons and two daughters: 1 1st. Son: GEORGE K. She married twice, first, at the age of 19 years on Jan 1913, she married the 21 year old Ray Samuel WARDEN; b. c1892, he d. Sep. 1924, at the age of 32 Buried in the "Summent Cementery" [Roy 9, Lot 20] He was a son of Mr WARDEN and wife T.A. (KNOX) WARDEN; They had two children born from this first Union; At the age of 33, Ona (LOY) WARDEN married a second time on 28 Jan. 1927, Yorktown, IA. to the 31 year old Ross Chester KNOX; (s/o James & Elecetta (SCOTT) KNOX) b. 11 Apr. 1886; Wahoo, NE; d. 26 Aug. 1944, at the age of 58 years, in Yorktown, IA. buried in Summent Cemetery" [ROW 9, Lot 19] They had no issue: FIRST MARRIAGE: 1. 1st Son: Lee Roy WARDEN; b. c1913 2. 2nd Son: Robert "Bob" WARDEN; b. c1914 [REF #19] The first Yorktown School was built in 1882, located on the south side of Adams street between 4th. and 5th. Streets. The Snake School House which was established in 1876, consolidated with the old Yorktown School and a new building was built in 1901, located on the corner of Washington and 3rd. Streets, later in 1911 the upper floor was built and a two-year "High School" was started. ONA LOY was a member of the 1910 Yorktown School Class. Lee Roy WARDEN (Son of Ray S. & Ona (LOY) Warden) b. abt 1913, Yorktown, IA. d. c1997, age 84 at Littleton, CO. married Miss Juanita Unknown; They had four children born to this Union: 1. Son: Gail WARDEN, Grosse Point, MI. 2. Son: David WARDEN, Madison, MS. 3. Son: Donald WARDEN, Greeley, CO. 4. Dau: Glenda (WARDEN), STRADER, Englewood, CO. Robert "Bob" WARDEN (Son of Ray S. & Ona (LOY) Warden) b. 1914, Yorktown, IA. d. 1995, age 81, Yorktown, IA. married c1940 to Miss Jean VARLEY; of Yorktown, IA. they had four children born to this union: 1.
