Meaning of the Duncan Family Name (Irish/Scotch): Descendant of
Donnchad (Brown Warrior). A very good estimate of the character
of the early Irish or Celts in their occupation of much of
Europe. Their warlike attitude is made evident by the many names
that they used to orginally mean soldier, warrior or champion.
