Wheeler No. 8 Reunion Description:  Former teachers and students of Wheeler No. 8 met at the Venture Inn in Odebolt on Saturday evening, July 30, for their first country school reunion.  Approximately sixty-five attended.
     After the evening meal, with Mildred Prestin presiding, greetings were read from those unable to attend.  Each former student and teacher present related events in their lives since leaving the school.
     The school songs were sung followed by a business meeting.  It was decided to hold a reunion again in three years, and a committee was appointed to plan the event.  Committee members include Howard Anderson of Kiron, Mrs. Ray Larson of Deloit, and Mrs. Carroll Peters of Arthur.
     A chrysanthemum plant, given by Laura Wangler, was presented to the oldest former pupil present, Mrs. Emma Bergren, who started school at Wheeler No. 8 in 1892.  Folders commemorating the event were handed out to those attending.
     The committee in charge of this year's event included Mildred Prestin, Mr. & Mrs. Herbert Johnson, and Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Peterson.

Effie Nelson stayed with Anna & Sigurd Carlson when they lived on a Neville farm in  Section 16, Wheeler Township.  Effie was a teacher at the country school house that was on the southeast corner of the farm.

Pictured in about 1932?  (l to r) :  Wayne Carlson, Anna Carlson (Mrs. Sigurd Carlson), Effie Nelson Erickson,  Mrs. Pete Nelson-Effie's mother, and Effie's son.  Effie's husband was John Erickson.  The Nelsons were visiting the Carlsons.
