Ida M. (Sagar) Hedberg, 86 of Cook.   - Funeral services for Ida M. Hedberg, 86, of Cook [MN], will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday (November 24th) at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cook. Rev. Marcus Hess will be the officiant. The singing will be congregational with Lorraine Walker providing the accompaniment. Committal services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday (Nov. 26th) at the West St. Olaf Chapel near Hayfield, Minnesota, where interment will be in the West St. Olaf Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Mlaker Funeral Home in Cook. Mrs. Hedberg died Wednesday, November 21, 2001, at the Cook Hospital. 

She was born on July 1, 1915, at Odebolt, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Lillian (Fredrickson) Sager. She grew in Odebolt, and was united in marriage to Roy Hedberg on June 7, 1930, at Carroll, Iowa. After marriage, they lived in Wall Lake, Iowa, then Parshall, North Dakota, before moving to rural Hayfield in 1950. They farmed most of their lives. After retirement, they moved to Cook in 1971. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Cook and its Rebecca Circle. She had been a midwife and had delivered 29 babies, (the last of which were twins.), and was a member of the American National Red Cross. While her husband served in World War 11, Ida served with the Women’s Relief Corps., and worked at the USO in Marysville, California. She loved people and helped many throughout the years. Ida was locally known as the "flower lady" and the "bird lady". She enjoyed flowers, and loved and cared for animals, and nursed many birds back to health. She is survived by 1 son, Robert (Renee) Hedberg of Owatonna, Mn.; 2 daughters, Pat Mathias of Cook, and Marcell (Richard) Hamilton of Oronoco, Mn.; 1 sister, Charlene Johnson of Kalama, Wash., ; 20 Grandchildren, 63 Great Grandchildren, 15 Great Great Grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Roy on July 24, 1973; 3 infant daughters at birth,; and 2 sisters, Loretta Wyatt and Mildred Johnson.

Arthur Hedberg Stricken on June 8
Dies June 14, Sick 1 Week 
    
Funeral services for Arthur Wilhelm Hedberg were held Monday afternoon at the Odebolt Methodist Church with Rev. Charles Arnold officiating with burial in the Odebolt Cemetery.
     Arthur Wilhelm Hedberg was born in Marshalltown, Iowa February 23, 1875 and died at his home in Odebolt, Iowa June 14, 1941 at 6 a.m. at the age of 66 years, 3 months, and 19 days. He was the son of Michael and Anna Hedberg.
     He married Marie Katherine Schwanz, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Schwanz of Fort Dodge, Iowa on November 12, 1905. They were the parents of twelve children, two dying in infancy.
     His wife and ten children, Henry of Early, Iowa, Roy, Reuben, Ernest of Wall Lake, Edward, Melvin, Carrie Ann, Irene, Gladys, and Norma Bell of Odebolt, a sister, Mrs. Ida Fredrickson and a brother Peter Hedberg of Odebolt, and seven grandchildren survive him.
     He was a good and faithful husband and father.

Mrs. Maria Katherine Hedberg 
     Mrs. Maria Katherine Hedberg died at Eastlawn Nursing Home in Odebolt on Friday, November 18. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday with burial in the Odebolt Cemetery.
     Maria Katherine Schwanz was born October 21, 1885 in Sac County, Iowa to Martha and Heinrich Schwanz. She married Arthur Hedberg and they resided in Bruce, Wisconsin and later Wall Lake, Iowa. Her husband died in 1941.
     Her parents, two brothers, Andrew and Ernest Schwanz, and her husband preceded her in death.
     10 children, 27 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren survive her. Her children are Henry of Odebolt; Roy of Hayfield, MN; Edward of Wykoff, MN; Melvin of Ames, Iowa; Ernest of Wall Lake, Iowa; Reuben of Chatfield, MN; Irene, Mrs. Louie Thormden of Chehalis, WA; Gladys, Mrs. Robert Jones of Sioux City, Iowa; Carrie Ann, Mrs. Alfred Wolleson of Lake View, Iowa; Norma, Mrs. Wayne Hund of Plainview, Texas. She also leaves three sisters, Mrs. Fred Bettin, Mrs. Alex Hannemann, and Mrs. Charles Lange, all of Odebolt, and five brothers, Henry and John of Wall Lake, George of Vail, Louis of Boyer and Chris of Wykoff, MN.

Mrs. Anna Hedberg
     Mrs. Anna Hedberg died Saturday at the home of her son, Peter O. Hedberg in this place. The remains were interred Tuesday afternoon in the Odebolt, Iowa Cemetery.
    She was born December 23, 1837 in Sweden. She married Michael Hedberg in 1856. She came to the United States in 1865 and ten years later to a farm in Viola Township, Sac County, Iowa. Mr. Hedberg died in 1876. In her later years she made her home with her son in Odebolt, Iowa.
     Anna and Michael were the parents of two sons and two daughters, Peter of Odebolt, Arthur of ?, Ida, Mrs. Fredrickson of Cook Township, Sac County, Iowa and Carrie, Mrs. Carlson of Norden, Nebraska.
     She was an estimable old lady and leaves many friends to mourn her death.

Rites Held for Peter Hedberg
    
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon October 28 at 2 p.m. at the Mission Covenant Church for P.O. Hedberg with burial in the Odebolt, Iowa Cemetery.
     Peter Oliver Hedberg was born in Swede Bend, Iowa in Webster County on April 22, 1869 and was the first child baptized by Rev. C.A. Bjork at the historic Swede Bend Church, birthplace of the American Covenant Church. In younger days he lived at Marshalltown, Iowa and later at Wall Lake, Iowa. He married Anna Mathilda Gotberg December 5, 1893 at Odebolt, Iowa. He had attained the age of 83 years, 6 months and four days.
     He became a member of the Mission Covenant Church February 2, 1893 and was an active member. He loved music and sang in the choir.
     A daughter, Florence of Odebolt and a son, Roscoe V. of Sherman Oaks, California and one grandchild survive him.
     His wife, two sisters, and one brother preceded him in death.

Mrs. Hedberg Dies November 15
     Mrs. P.O. Hedberg passed away at her home Saturday, November 15, at the age of 76 years, 13 days. Her health had been failing but she had always been up and able to go about her house until about three weeks ago when she was confined to her bed.
     Anna Mathilda Gotberg was born in Sasjo, Smaland, Sweden November 2, 1865. She immigrated to the United States in 1890, living at Dayton and Gowrie before coming to Odebolt.
     She married Peter O. Hedberg December 5, 1893 and to this union was born one son and one daughter. She was a member of the Evangelical Mission Church since June 4, 1893 and was an active member.
     Her husband, a daughter Florence and son Roscoe V.  of Waterloo, Iowa survive her. She also is survived by a grandson, four brothers, Otto of Odebolt, Iowa; Edward, Carl, Oscar, and a sister Elna living in Sweden.
     A brother Gust Gotberg, formerly of Odebolt, preceded her in death.
     Funeral services were held at 1:30 at the home and at 2:00 at the Methodist Church in Odebolt.

Florence Hedberg 
    
Funeral services were held at the Covenant Church in Odebolt at 2 p.m. Friday afternoon, December 10 with Rev. Carl Isaacson officiating, with burial in the Odebolt Cemetery.
     Florence Olive Hedberg died December 7, 1976 at the Horn Memorial Hospital in Ida Grove. She was born in Sac County to Peter and Mathilda Hedberg on March 8, 1895. She lived her entire life at Odebolt and worked in the general store with her father and later at the Odebolt Locker.
     She was baptized and confirmed in the Odebolt Covenant Church and was a member there since 1910. She served as pianist at the church for more than 50 years.
     She was a resident of Colonial Manor Nursing Home since 1969.
     She is survived by a brother Roscoe and his wife Helen and their son John Hedberg and wife Barbara, all of Westlake, California.
