Briggle, John G.

Submitted by Mary Jo Weedon in Falls Church, VA - Photos and biographical information on John G. Briggle who owned and operated Briggle's Ice Cream Parlour.   

A quote from his obituary:  "John Briggel was one of the interesting characters of the town. He was of a peculiar make-up, but lived the life of a good citizen and was successful in business. His restaurant on the east side of Main street was a model of neatness and he was a familiar figure to the people of the town."

Dresselhuis, George W.

Conley Wolterman of Ida Grove submitted photos of the Ulysses Hill family which she received from Linda Ruff in California as an act of genealogical kindness, and also submitted a brief biography.  Conley is involved with a project which takes digital photos of gravestones to post on the Internet, and has photographed Odebolt Cemetery

Hopkins, William Henry

Lee Ashmore contributed a civil war photo and notes written during the Civil War by William Hopkins who later moved to Odebolt and was a member of the Odebolt G.A.R. 

Kintyre, Argyll Scotland Connections

Kintyre Connections - An on-gong project containing information gleaned from early newspapers & other sources concerning families who came from the peninsula of Kintrye, Argyll, Scotland and had connections with the Odebolt area.  The authors of this web site are in contact researchers of some of these families because our father came from Campbeltown, which is in Kintyre.  Family names include Currie, Houston, Huie, McAllister, McCallum, McCorkindale, McGeachy, McKinven, McLean, McQuistan, Sillars, Smith and more.

Kuhl - The World War I Letters of John E. Kuhl, 1918-1919

The original war-time correspondence of the Herman and Nellie Kuhl family of Odebolt, which included daughter Louise and son John, who enlisted in 1918.  These letters have been compiled into a book by John’s granddaughter, Lanelle Krueger of Longmont, Colorado, and her mother, Jane (Kuhl) Krueger of Holyoke, Colorado, a 1944 graduate of Odebolt High School.  Permission has been given by the authors to publish parts of the letters that would be of interest to people interested in Odebolt history.
