Henry Kessler, Sr.

Henry Kessler, born 1841 in Cazerona, Saxeweimer, Germany, son of Conrad and Marguerite (Baumgartner) Kessler.  The mother died in Germany in 1861 and in 1865 the father with eight children came to America.  The children were: Barbara, Marguerita, Artman, George, Henry, Margaret, Veronica and Daniel.  The Kessler family settled in Lee County, Illinois and there Conrad died in 1882.

Henry Kessler was twenty four when his father brought his children to America.  In 1869 Henry Kessler married Elizabeth Reudzel and in 1873 they moved to Benton County, Iowa.  In 1878 they moved to Sac County, Iowa, settling on a farm in Clinton Township which they purchased for five dollars and sixty cents an acre.  They moved into Odebolt in 1911.

Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kessler were parents of George, married Mary Long; Mary (Mrs. Will Frevert); Katie (Mrs. August Bachman); John, married Flora Mandernach; Edward, married Lydia Walbaum; Rosina (Mrs. A. Fred Einspahr); Caroline (Mrs. Elmer Nitzschel); and Minnie (Mrs. Val Pullen).

Mr. and Mrs. George Kessler, parents of Louie married Marie Thayer.
Anna married John Siebrecht (under Siebrecht).
Harry married Minnie Alderson and their children are Raymond and Ruth.
Elmer married Emma Hanson, parents of Fern and Lois.
Mr. and Mrs. Will Frevert, parents of Benjamin, August, Willard, Warren and Merril.
Mr. and Mrs. August Bachman were parents of Clara, Alice, Lillian, Roy, Marie and Elmer.
Mr. and Mrs. John Kessler, parents of Irene, Helen, and Leone.
Mr. and Mrs. Edward Kessler, parents of Walter and Eleanor.
Mr. and Mrs. A. Fred Einspahr, parents of Leonard and Raymond.
Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Nitzsche, parents of Floyd, Dorothy, and Ruth.

August Kluckhohn

August Kluckhohn was born 1827 in Lieden-Hausen, Oen-Hausen, Detmold.  Upon reaching his majority he decided to seek his fortune in the new world and left his home in Germany, arriving in New York in May 1848.  In 1853, while living in Chicago, he married Wilhelmina Saak, born 1833 in Hellberg Court Hohnhausen Lippe-Delmond, Germany.  After their marriage they moved to Wisconsisn.  August and Wilhelmina were parents of Henry; Sophia (Mrs. Miner); Minne; Lydia; Caroline (Mrs. Hoffman); August; Henrietta (Mrs. Christ); Emma; Hilda; Arthur; Edward; Albert and Clarence.

Henry Kluckhohn married Caroline Boerner, a daughter of John and Matilda (Damm) Boerner.  They were parents of Ellis, Otmar, and Emil.

Ellis Kluckhohn married Mary Bieschke and they had one son Edwin, who married Gladys Carlson.  Edwin's mother died when he was nine days old and Edwin was reared by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kluckhohn, who after pioneering in Ida County, purchased a farm just north of Odebolt in 1892.  In 1909 Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kluckhohn erected a new home on Park Avenue in Odebolt and retired from farming.

Charles Krusenstjerna

Charles Krusenstjerna born 1862, son of Marritz Von and Marie (Biller) Krusenstjerna, came to America in 1882.

In 1892 he married Emma Link, a native of Germany.  Charles was killed in 1907 when he was working to clear the debris from the fire which burned the Mattes and Motie building and the weakened walls collapsed on the workmen.

Charles and Emma were parents of Oscar, who died at six years; Charles (Bud) married Doris Lewis; and Alvin (Shorty) married Lena Gonnerman.  (See Link history.)
