Cowlham, George Sr.


George Cowlham, Sr., son of John and Mary (Warrington) Cowlham was born in Yorkshire, England, October 22, 1867. He was baptized in the Church of England in 1869. When he was two years old he came with his parents to the United States. It took them twelve weeks to cross the Atlantic in a sailing vessel. They first located in Bulashi, New York, later to Dewitt, Iowa and then to Vail, Iowa.

In 1890, George married Anna Wulf, daughter of James and Annie (Voege) Wulf and they established their home Sac County south of Odebolt.

Children born to them: James; Leone (Mrs. Chris Sonksen); and Violet (Mrs. J. Arthur Scott).

James Cowlham married Nettie Richardson, were parents of George, who married Viola Kropf and Ralph, who married Ann Bruns.

Mr. and Mrs. Chris Sonksen were parents of Lola; Donna; Fern and Marvin.
