In 1975, the Oelwein Area Historical Society published a facsimile of the Souvenir Edition of The Oelwein Daily Record. We have tried to reproduce the booklet here so that visitors to this site can get an idea of what Oelwein looked like in 1898. The photos are not the best quaity because they are photos taken in 1898 and printed in a booklet, then scanned into the computer at a low enough resolution to make the pages load quickly. Also, to induce you to visit the museum and pick up your own copy for only $5.00. The booklet has a gold cover which looks green when scanned, but it is actually gold. Really! No, really! If you don't believe me come to Oelwein, visit the museum and get your own copy and you'll see for yourself. The pages are not numbered, but we assigned numbers to them in order to keep track of what we are doing.
