Welcome to the Oelwein Area Historical Society web site.

We are proud to present information about the City of Oelwein, Iowa and the surrounding area. We have a brief History of Oelwein, information about our Museum, some historic Sights Around Town, several pages of Publications such as newspaper and magazine excerpts — including a booklet we published, Links to other Iowa Historical web sites, and a Contact Us page.

The Oelwein Area Historical Society general meetings are held at 7:00 PM on the last Tuesday of every month in the Museum. Each month there is a presentation on some aspect of the history of Oelwein or the surrounding area. The general meetings are open to the public. Please Contact Us for more information.

The next general meeting of the Oelwein Area Historical Society will be held on Tuesday, July 28, 2015, at 7:00 PM, at the Oelwein Public Library.

Membership fees for the Oelwein Area Historical Society are as follows:

Individual -	$10.00 per calendar year.
Family -	$25.00 per calendar year.
Lifetime -	$100.00 One time fee.

The Oelwein Area Historical Society is now selling cotton coverlets. Please help the Oelwein Area Historical Society and Museum by purchasing a lasting memory of Oelwein. The proceeds from these coverlets will go toward building a new addition and other improvements for the Museum.

The coverlets measure 68" X 48" plus a fringe and are available in three colors - Cranberry Red, Hunter Green and Williamsburg Blue.
