Note: Some census records on Mark reflect his Mother was born in Canada; however, John B. says his Mom born in NY on a census d: Unknown in She is on the 1850 Marquette Co., Wisconsin census and last known there m: Unknown in Possibly Canada, or NY Isaac interned under his father in the trade of a mason; however, he had a
desire to travel to the "Connecticut Western Reserve" frontier in Ohio to
engaged in his trade there. He traveled west across NY and soon found folks in
need of his trade. He was persuaded to settle in the Town of Hanover,
Chautauqua County, NY for a while.

Amount Isaac and his family are eventually found living in Knox County, OH in the 1830 federal census in Pleasant township. Again his last name is spelled with the "b" and this name is on land deeds too. Isaac removed from Ohio about 1846 and their property was sold to settle debts. DEED to Joseph W. Northrup, June 5th 1840. Isaac Hamblin (seal) The State of Ohio, Knox County On Dec 30, 1844 a deed is recorded whereby a James Fields deeded Isacc a lot of two acres, more or less, to Isacc Hamblin, Hannah Hamblin, Mark Hamblin, and Russell Hamblin. The lot sold for $110. These apparently are city lots. Book AA page 211, Recorders Office, Mr Vernon, Knox Co. OH- the deed was copied by Joyce Hamblin. On August 14th, 1845 Isacc Hamblin, Hannah Hamblin, their sons, Mark S.
Hamblin, and Russel Hamblin, deeded a 1/4th acre lot in Knox County to a
Hannah Giles. The consideration was a horse wagon, and harnesses valued at
$45.00, for the property. They may have divided the two acre lot above and
sold off part of it. It is possible that they were trying to generate cash
for their move the following year to a location north of Madison, in
Wisconsin. Both Isaac and Mark signed the document but Hannah and Russell
signed their mark, with an X, which would indicate that they were illiterate. He is recorded in the southwest part of Delhi, IA in 1847 with his family. There he quarried mortar from limestone and built a great stone fireplace. Later a log home was built around it. This home later became known as the Charlie Hobbs home and the Delaware County records this fireplace as the historical Hobb's Chimney. Charles W. Hobbs was one of the early and chief
factors in the settlement and organization of Delaware County. He settled near
Gilbert D. Dillon's, in North Fork Township, in 1840, and in the following
year he removed to Penn's Grove. This pioneer wasborn in Queen Annes County,
Maryland, in 1805. From October 1836, to October 1837, he served as clerk in
St. Louis and in the latter year went to Dubuque. Leaving Penn's Grove in the
spring of 1841, he removed to Delhi Township and built a cabin on his and,
just outside of the confines of Delhi. The stone chimney of this primitive
home remains standing as a landmark of the first habitation in that locality.
In the year 1857 Mr. Hobbs left Delhi for Osage, where he served two and a
half years as receiver of the land office. The office was then abolished and
he returned home. he was the first clerk of the District Court of Delaware
County and also clerk of the Commissioners' Court, which position he held for
seven years. Mr. Hobbs was also recorder of deeds one term, took the United
States census for the county in 1860, was justice of the peace several years
and also postmaster at Delhi.
