High School, stood third in class, hence made class prophet; m. Crawford Co., Pa., Nov. 29, 1883, E. T. Farrens; children: Paul Pond, Margery. Served as assistant county clerk in Clarinda, Ia., after graduation from high school until married. For four years Presbyterial pres. of Home Missions for Coming Presbytery; has been vice-pres. and cor. sec. to Presbyterian Missionary Soc. Contributor of poems to home papers. Mem. Ladies' Missionary Soc., Sorosis Bible Class. Mem. (has been sec. and pres.) Current Events Club (literary), Birthday Club (social). Favors woman suffrage. Progressive. FAVILLE, Cora Thornburg (Mrs. Frederick F. Faville), Storm Lake, Ia. Born Orchard, Mitchell Co., Ia.; dau. A. A. and (Gould) Thornburg; ed. public schools of Mitchell Co., Ia., and afterwards while teaching took four years in normal work; m. Orchard, Ia., Frederick F. Faville, then sup't of schools at Orchard, but later a practising lawyer, now U.S. attorney); children: Stanton Sherwood, Marion Blanche. Began teaching at age of 16, and was for 5 years teacher in public schools at Osage, Ia. After marriage resided for some time at Des Moines, removing, in 1892, to Sioux Rapids and a few years later to Storm Lake. One of organizers, 1895, of Tuesday Club of Storm Lake (pres. seven years). Club devoted to literary work and civic improvement, making gifts of pictures and statuary to Storm Lake Public Library, and in the beautifying of the Lake Shore and public parks of Storm Lake. Patroness of Kappa Gamma Sorority of Buena Vista Coll. Chairman Household Economics Com., Iowa State Federation Women's Clubs. Congregationalist. Mem. Holyoke Coll.), '59; m. Danbury, Conn., July 29, 1873, Rev. A. L. Frisbie, D.D.; children: Mabel Everett, Alfred Lowrey. Was teacher before marriage, in New Brunswick, N.J., 1860-62; Danbury, Conn., 1862-69; Temple Grove Sem., Saratoga Springs, N.Y., 1869-73. Was for 25 years connected with the Ia. Branch of the Women's Board of Missions of the Interior, 14 years vice-pres., 11 years as pres. Has been specially interested and active in Bible study and instruction, in Sunday-school, Y.W.C.A. and Women's Club, and in other work, social, religious and philanthropic. Favors woman suffrage. Has written leaflets and newspaper articles on missionary and other religious subjects. Presented paper at the Ecumenical Missionary Conference in N.Y. City, 1890. Congregationalist.
