James Taggart

Of the firm of Taggart & Hindman, proprietors of the City Mills, is a native of Allegheny county, Pennsylvania, and was born on the fifteenth of November, 1831, and when four years of age was taken by his parents to Ohio, where he was principally raised on a farm. He came to Iowa in 1858, and settled in Marion county, and engaged in agricultural pursuits, and now owns an improved farm of 160 acres, and has proved himself a successful agrculturalist. In 1875 he purchased the City Mills, mention of which is made in another part of this work. He has a full share of public patronage, and is building up an enviable reputation for the quality of his manufactures, and among the many successful business men of Marion county, no one has a higher standing for honor and integrity. He married Miss Jane Hindman in 1859. She was born in Ireland. Their family consists of six children: William E, Robert M, Mary E, Addie B, Laura J and Maggie L.
