was converted to religion in Logan Co., Ohio, at an early age, and became a
member of the Friends' Society, but soon fell away from his duties as a soldier
of Christ, and remained an outcast from the consolation of religion until 1870,
when he responded to the call of his Creator, and reunited himself to his Church
and again enrolled in the army of the Lord; he is a sincere and faithful worker
in his Society, and looking upon all Christian denominations as brothers, he
feels and acts as a brother toward them. He
started in life a poor boy, but by adopting a course of strict integrity,
honesty and studious attention to his business, he has acquired a competency. He
married Miss Sarah HODSON in 1862; she was born in Missouri in 1841.
