Casper Kallenbach, son of Conrad and Margaretta Kallenbach, was born in Germany, April 27, 1835. He was reared in his native country till his eighteenth year when he immigrated to the United States, landing at New York. He first located in Wisconsin, in which State he followed farming about nine years, and was there united in marriage to Miss Doroty Romheld. Six of the eight children born to them are living – Mary, Annie, Lizzie, Sarah, Teckla and George, two of the daughters, Sarah and Lizzie, being engaged in teaching school. Mr. Kallenbach left Wisconsin with his family in 1864, and has since been a resident of Cedar Falls. Mr. Kallenbach is now engaged in gardening, and is meeting with success in his chosen avocation. He and his family are members of the German Evangelical church, and are much respected throughout the township. In his political relations Mr. Kallenbach affiliates with the Republican party. In all enterprises pertaining to the good of his county our subject takes an active interest, and gives his influence in promoting the same.
