1.THOMAS RICE

Thomas Rice is mentioned in Raleigh Travers Green's "Genealogical

and Historical Notes on Culpepper County Virginia."

"Thomas Rice was an Englishman by birth of Welsh extraction. He was

an early adventurer into Virginia.  Where he spent the first part of

his life is not certainly known.  In the latter part of his life he

owned a small plantation in the lower part of what is now called

Hanover County.  Here he left his wife, with nine sons and three

daughters, and went to England to receive a considerable estate which

had been left him, but returned no more.  It was reported that he died

at sea."

    Thomas' wife's name was Marie.

7.HENRY RICE     1.THOMAS RICE

It is not known positively that Henry Rice is the son of Thomas

and Marie rice.  They lived in the same general area of VA and we will

assume for the moment that Henry is the son of Thomas and Marie.

Henry married Margaret Bohannon.  Margaret was d daughter of

Dunkin and Sarah Bohannon of St. Thomas Parish, Orange County, VA.

On January 26, 1747, Henry's estate was appraised.  He must have

died before the end of the year 1746.

In 1751, a bond made Samuel Rice guardian of Michael, Fisher,

Sarah, Milly, and Amon Bohannon Rice, orphans of Henry Rice.  In

1767, a settlement of the Henry Rice estate was made to William

Rice, Fisher Rice, Michael Rice, Ann Rice, Sarah Finnell, Mildred

Rice and Amon Bohannon Rice.  This suggests that these children

of Henry were minors in 1751 and that the youngest had attained

his majority in 1767.

In 1805, Amon and Anny bought 1,250 acres of land in Harrison

County VA for $875.00.  Anny apparently died between 1805 and 1809.

In 1809, Amon deeded all his land to his two sons, Hezekiah and

Bohannon Rice.  In 1812, Amon was granted a license to keep an

ordinary (tavern) in Clarksburg, Harrison County.

On September 26, 1816, Amon married Jemima (Jackson) Arnold
