The Langworthy Families in America, Part 2:

Other Immigrants and Unplaced Families

Although most present day Langworthys seem to be descendants of Andrew Langworthy and his wife Rachel Hubbard, of Newport, Rhode Island, there were a few other immigrants with descendants named Langworthy. And there are a number of Langworthy families who appear in vital records and in various Federal Censuses who were probably the descendants of Andrew and Rachel, but can't be placed within the family (yet). Part 2 of this web site attempts to pull together the most complete, accurate and up to date information we have about both sorts of families.

Because of size restrictions I'll only be able to include descendants with the Langworthy surname. However I'll try to include the spouses of the Langworthy daughters, so that those of you whose ancestors married into these families will be able to trace your Langworthy lines.

If you can provide additional (or better) information, please send it to me - I'd be happy to add it to the site and to list you as a contributor.

Contents:
  • How to use this site (Starting here will save you time and effort!).
  • Surnames of all persons appearing in Part 2.
  • Index of all persons appearing in Part 2, arranged alphabetically by surname. Note that every Langworthy name has a birth date appended, if it is known.
  • Unplaced Langworthy Families, all probably descended from Andrew and Rachel. They are listed by the head of the earliest household.
  • Langworthy Immigrants after 1750, listed by earliest ancestor in America. Note that immigrants before 1750 are treated separately, primarily because the spelling of names was more variable and a wider net had to be cast. See here.
