Martha was born in Crawford County, Georgia. Her father is Jacob HAMPTON (son of John HAMPTON and Elizabeth SNIDER). Her mother is Martha Bell WOODS (daughter of John WOODS and Pheraby GLOVER. At the age of 17, Martha married Wesley P. SHORT. Their children were Henry, Ida Bell, Laura Elizabeth, and Llewellyn Hampton. Martha died ten years after her marriage. Ida, Laura and Llewellyn were sent to live with their HAMPTON grandparents. Henry vanished without record. Martha is buried in Fort Valley, Georgia at Oaklawn Cemetery in the SHORT family plot. Her grave is unmarked. |
