Nigel de Glanville Waymouth (Commander R.N.) Born at Camberley on 19 Aug 1903. Died at Isle of Wight on 23 June 1964. This 1907 photo Nigel is third from left in the front row. He was the oldest of two children of Charles S H and Ada Waymouth. A midshipman in the Navy in 1921, Nigel left as a Commander in 1948 after making his name as a signals officer on aircraft carriers. After Commanding the RNVR in Hong Kong in the early 1950s he was Vice Chairman of the British Schools Exploring Society leading groups on expeditions to Canada, Lapland, etc. In his youth he was an actor and cricketer. He married twice and had two children. |
