Preferred URL for YOUR Rootsweb Site
Rootsweb has given us a number of URL's we can use for our sites. Which one is the preferred URL for submitting your site to Google? I am using my own Freepages site as an example. You can check YOUR OWN site here

The most commonly returned HTTP response codes include the following:
- 200: The page at the URL requested was successfully processed by the web server.
- 301: The URL requested has been permanently reassigned to another URL, and the page at that URL will be requested.
- 302: The URL requested has been temporarily reassigned to another URL, and the page at that URL will be requested.
- 404: The page at the URL requested couldn't be found on the web server.
- 503: The web server is temporarily unavailable and cannot process the URL request.
The results from my own site check are listed below. I will be using either of the first two as the url for my site since all others are being redirected.

NOTE: Since genealogy is the default community for freepages, it is not necessary to include it in the url. This becomes the shortest url if that is the only community you are using. It will NOT work with any of the other communities.
If you are one of those who have more than one account on RootsWeb (freepages, homepages, or WWW accounts) with the same sitename, this will be the shortest url for you to use BUT it will only work with one account - homepages or www. You cannot use this url for more than one account.
