Office contains the following records:

Wills, beginning 1777. (Except Book DD that was destroyed by fire.)
Inventory & Sales, beginning 1777
Bonds & Letters, beginning 1777
Land Grants, beginning 1777
Marriages, beginning 1806

Birth & Death, beginning 1927
Birth Records ARE NOT PUBLIC.

Copies of other records can be obtained by coming to the Court House and making your own copies, (EXCEPT BIRTH). Otherwise only written requests are handled "as time permits". Search and copy fees are charged. The search fee is usually $3.00 per name. After that search, they can advise if they have anything and usually give an approximate cost for copies of the documents. All written requests must contain a self addressed, stamped envelope.

Just as a guide, not a firm price, as it varies from document to document, we (of the Wilkes County Pages) offer the following estimate based on past experience:
Wills $6.00 each.
Copy of Returns $6.00
Copy of Inventory & Sales $6.00
Copy of Bonds & Letters $4.00
Copy of Marriages $4.00
Copy of Land Grants $4.00

Add $5.00 for Certified Copies of the above Records. Remember, this is NOT a firm price, but offered only as a planning guide.
