WILLIAM SELMAN

WILLIAM SELMAN

William Selman (1749 - 1833) and his wife Elizabeth (1745-1828) share the same headstone

at the Bethel Baptist Church in Good Hope, Walton County, Georgia.

Under his name are the words "Revolutionary War"

I have been unable to find a record of Revolutionary War service for a William Selman with these dates of birth and death.

In various records on ancestry.com prepared by the Daughters of the American Revolution, is a William Selman who resided and is buried in Upson County, Georgia.

The only record I have been able to find in Walton County for William is a William Selman in the 1830 census for Walton County.  It shows he has seven slaves and three free whites.

I'm not even sure if this is the same William that is buried at Bethel Baptist Church cemetery.

If anyone has information , please feel free to send it my way.
