Ex-Coroner Rowe Died Yesterday
Yesterday (Monday) afternoon, at the home of his brother,
Elijah Rowe, who lives
on the plantation of Mr. George Gibson, of the Mountain
Creek church community,
death claimed Ex-Coroner James Franklin Rowe, after an
illness of some two weeks.
Mr. Rowe, a native of Walton county, was a dwarf from
birth and yet he lived to be 56 years,
nine months and twelve days old, the son of the late
James and Elizabeth
Hayes (sic- maiden name was actually Hall) Rowe and despite
his affliction, from youth, had
been so full of the greatest wit and good humor, was
of more than ordinary
intelligence and because of the general high esteem the
voters had for him, he was selected
Coroner, to be succeeded by Tom Brown, present incumbent.
He had a
good opinion of men and matters of public morment (sic)
and for some years was a member
of Mountain Creek Baptist church. From that church, the
editor of The
News in charge, the funeral and burial occurred this
(Tuesday) afternoon. The E. L. Almand
Co, funeral directors in charge.
Besides his wife, Mrs. Fannie Rowe, Mr. Rowe is survived
by two brothers, Isaac Rowe,
Monroe, Ga, RFD No. 3, Elijah and Albert Rowe, of the
same address. He
leaves two sisters, Mrs. Annie Fuller and Mrs Effie Woodruff,
of Monroe, Ga, rural free
delivery mail route, No. 2.
The sympathy of all who remember genial James Franklin
Rowe, is extended to the sorrow-stricken.
