CIVIL WAR--CLEMONS, WILLIAM R. is actually
CLEMENT, WILLIAM RILEY, who was a soldier in Company G, 52nd Regiment,
Georgia Volunteer Infantry, the "Alleghany Rangers." He was listed
as a private on 4 Mar 1862. He was captured at Vicksburg, Miss. on 4
Jul
1863 and paroled there in 1863. He was listed as "missing" at
Dalton, GA in 1864, perhaps leading to the confusion of his death.
WILLIAM
RILEY CLEMENT did not die in the Civil War. He had two children before
the War and came home to father four more. He died in 1911 and is
buried
in Mt. Pleasant 2 Church Cemetery.
