Conyers Abood. Do you have
information on Charles Luther and Marilu CARTER who operated the

Susan K. Miller. In
1969, my brother and I - Kenny and Susan King - stayed with Russell and
Thelma DAVIS in HIAWASSEE. We came sometime in the spring
and left in March 1970 when our father
died. We attended the local school and I remember the yearly Heritage days. That year they showcased a
real moonshine still and the moonshiner
was allowed to come with police escort. Thelma and Russell lived along the highway 76, I believe. There was
a drive in movie behind their house.
It was a brick house sort of sunken into the ground with a large garage turned into a ceramic shop
with an apartment on top. The Davis' gave classes in ceramics. They were elderly and
very nice and cool. Any information
would be appreciated. I know they had relatives in Ohio, but nothing much about them. Please email
me. Thank you for your time.

What I would especially like to know
is this: My father told me that the family owned farmland near Bell Knob
and pointed out the general direction
to me from atop Brasstown Bald when I was a child. I would like to know if the family obtained this
land when it was parceled out after
having been taken from the Cherokee, or whether they obtained it at a later date. I would very much appreciate it if you have
any information as to the exact
location of the family's land. (Another family member has stated that it is now beneath a man-made
lake.)
Margaret Clark. Daniel

(maiden name unknown) on 2/16/1895 in Towns County. I'm trying to
find out what Caroline's maiden name might have been. It's

who came to Towns County from North Carolina.
Shelley D. Oakley.
I am seeking information on several family names: Kirby, Lloyd, and Hooper. I have looked at the census in
Heritage Quest and have not found the names. I am told the Lloyd and Hooper
families are from Towns County and
Jim Lloyd, son of Manson Lloyd, changed his name to Jim Hooper after escaping prison during prohibition. Do you
have any information regarding
this? Supposedly the story goes that when Jim Hooper escaped he took his wife, Pauline (Kirby) and
2 small children with him. Upon leaving
the mountain there was a car accident and it was believed the family died in this accident. Their
families claimed the bodies as them and they were buried in a local church
cemetery. It was Jim and his family
and the family eventually traveled and settled in Virginia. Any information would be appreciated.
Sandra Thomas. Last
known location for Joel Franklin Bingham b. 1835 in Ashe County, NC and

grandpa Walter Woodrow MOORE came from Towns County. He was born
around 1916-1918 and died about 1998 in Habersham County GA. I'm not sure who his

appreciated as I try to collect Proof documents for DAR.
Would
someone be kind enough to take a picture of the headstone for Dr. Bailey Kirby and his wife Elizabeth
Sherrill Kirby and send it to Tim
Seawolf-Self to put on the Towns's county
web site? They are buried in Old
Union Baptist Church Cemetery. Jason Lee Edwards contributed a Bio for Dr.
Kirby. I have a Xerox copy of the headstone but a real picture would be
superior. Their son Warren Kerby married Telitha Ann Keener on 19
Oct. 1853, in Rabun County
where the Keener family resided. They were married by John Keener, J.P. who could be Telitha's father.
