General John B. Gordon House

The Taylor County Historical-Genealogical Society, Inc. is sponsoring a project to preserve the house that was located on the farm of General John B. Gordon near Reynolds, Georgia.

The General John B. Gordon House was donated by Mr. & Mrs. Robert Brunson of Reynolds, Ga. The house has a current appraised value of $23,562.00.

We are in the process of having it moved to the new location on land donated by Mr. & Mrs. Dawson Mims, Jr. in honor of David T. Montfort and Dawson A. Mims, Sr.

We need the help of all of Taylor County and supporters of the county and the Historical Society. We not only need your financial support we also need all the expert assistance and volunteers in this effort. The cost to move the house will be in excess of $10,000.00. Once the house is relocated many hours of labor will be involved in restoring this beautiful old home.

We plan to make this house into a museum for historical & genealogical material for the Taylor County area. Once the house is restored and furnished it will be opened to the public for tours. This will be a tourist attraction that will be an asset to Taylor County.
