Matthew Talbot represented that County in the Georgia Legislature.  He was the 30th Governor of Georgia for two weeks.  He died at his plantation near Washington, Wilkes County on 17 Sept 1827. Matthew Talbot is buried at Smyrna Church Cemetery in Washington, Wilkes County, Georgia.
