It will include the battles of this regiment along with descriptive letters from some of the men, maps of battles, a complete roster, and a chapter devoted to genealogical material on each soldier.
Photos, diaries, pension claims, prison information, and burial data will be included as space permits.

A BANNER DAY

The unveiling of the Confederate Monument, erected by the Sarah E. Hornady chapter, U.D.C., on Thursday of this week was indeed a success in every respect. More than a thousand enthusiastic spectators were present, and the program which had been arranged by the Daughters was most interestingly carried out. The unveiling ceremonies were held in a well provised stand just in front of the monument. Aside from the usual preliminary addresses and selected music, Col. R.M. Howard, of Columbus, the speaker of the day, delivered one of the most eloquent appeals in justification of the South's cause that has ever been heard by a Schley county audience. "Uncle Bob," as he is more familiarly known, although reaching the 77th mile stone, was undoubtedly at his best. His address was most inspiring to the young as well as strengthening to his old comrades. Many were the applauses throughout the cause of his remarks, and at the same time hundreds of eyes were drowned in tears.

The monument was unveiled by thirteen little girls, representing the thirteen Confederate states. A sumptuous feast was spread in the grove just opposite the court house, thus ending the ceremonies of the day.

In memory of the boys in gray erected 1910 under the auspices of the Sarah E. Hornady Chapter # 884 U. D.C."

The Sarah E. Hornady Chapter #884 of the U.D.C. is no longer active. Mrs. S.C. Collins was President at the time of the dedication.

Embossed on all four sides are the letters C.S.A. with a battle flag beneath the dates 1861-1865.

MONUMENT UNVEILED AT ELLAVILLE
From the Dawson, Ga. News

A beautiful monument to the confederate dead was unveiled at Ellaville, Schley county, last Thursday with interesting ceremonies, under the auspices of the Sarah E. Hornady chapter, United Daughters of the Confederacy. The people of that section have honored themselves in thus paying loving tribute to the heroes of the sixties, and at the same time honoring the living--a true type of the gentlewoman of the old south. The name the chapter bears, that of a resident of Dawson, stands for a life as modest and fragrant as the violets in times of peace, but in the stress and strain of war time as brave and heroic as was ever the Spartan mother. These old-fashion women od our southland, God bless them! They have hearts of gold, no matter whether their silver locks are covered with sunbonnets or velvet and real lace, and they link us to a glorious past.

Mrs. S.E. Hornady and Miss Mary Hornady attended the unveiling on Thursday of the monument at Ellaville to the Confederate dead. They were present as guests of the Sarah E. Hornady chapter, United Daughters of the Confederacy.

Notes: Sarah E. Hornady was widow of A.C. Hornady, Co. K, 48th Ga. The Sarah E. Hornady chapter of U.D.C. was formed in Ellavile, January 19, 1905.
