home of the 100 year old Courthouse.
Dallas is the largest city in Paulding County with a population that is
multiplying daily.
The current population is approximately 3,000.
Dallas was named after GEORGE MIFFLIN DALLAS - an illustrious statesman who
served as
Vice President of the United States under President James Polk.
Dallas was established as the County Seat in 1851. It is currently operating
under leadership
of the Mayor Boyd L. Austin and City Council.

Braswell:
The Town of Braswell was created by an act of the General Assembly of Georgia on
Dec. 13, 1895, and was named for
Henry Braswell. According to the History of Paulding County, "a sizeable
community existed in the area prior
to the incorporation of the town, especially since the advent of the Southern
Railroad about 1882. The Railway
Stop as known as BRASWELL, which was named for Henry Braswell, a prominent
citizen of Dallas whose
daughter married Carey Spinks and reared a large and most respected family in
Paulding. Mr. Braswell carried
on a sizeable saw mill operation in the vicinity and later worked for the
Railroad. The town took its name from
the Railroad Stop."
Henry Braswell was the Son of Wesley Braswell, he was born May 20, 1831/32 in
Newton/Dekalb Co.
He is listed in the 1850 Dekalb Co. Census in Wesley's household at age 19. He
is also listed in the 1860 Georgia
Census in Paulding County at Age 27, male, farmer, real estate $930 - Personal
Property $1400, born in Georgia.
Wife: Martha, Age 20, (born March 17, 1838; died August 11, 1901 and is buried
in the Dallas City Cemetery in
Dallas, Georgia. Children: Branson, female, age 2, William age 7 months (born
Sept. 7, 1859) and died June 30, 1862 and
is buried in the Dallas City Cemetery, Dallas, Georgia.; male, all born in
Georgia.
Henry died on August 21, 1901 in Paulding County, Georgia and is buried in the
Dallas City Cemetery, Dallas, GA.
