Last will and testament
of William Sorrow (original will in will book A, page 162)
IN THE NAME OF GOD, AMEN.
I, William Sorrow of the county of Oglethorpe and State of Georgia, being
sickly and weak, but of perfect mind and memory, thanks be to God for the
same, and calling to mind the mortality of the body and knowing it is appointed
for all men once to die, do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament.
My soul I recommend to God that gave it, and my body I recommend to the
earth to be buried in a christian like and decent manner at the descretion
fo my Executors, hoping to recieve the same again at the general resurrection
by the mighty power of God.
Impress. It is my
will and desire that in the first place all my debts and funeral chargs
be paid and satisfed.
Item, I give and bequeath
to my beloved son Henry Sorrow five shillings sterling.
Item, I give and bequeath
to my beloved son Samuel Sorrow five shillings sterling.
Item, I give and bequeath
to my dearly beloved daughter Sarah Canterbury (addenda: on November 21,
1781 in Albemarle Co (VA) Joseph Canterburry and Sarah Sorrow were married)
five shillings sterling.
Item, I give and bequeath
to my dearly beloved son John Webb Sorrow, whom I make my executor, all
my lands, goods, and chattels, and everything to me belonging, provided
he supports my dearly beloved wife Sarah during her life with sufficent
necessarys. This is my last will and testament, revoking all others.
As witnss my hand and seal this 28th day off August 1795.
