David Jackson CASADA was in the militia of William N. BISHOP in 1836 in
Murray Co, GA. There are all of 2 pages in his folder. I would like
more
information on where he was during the 3 months he enlisted in the
"Cherokee
removal"-Seminole Wars is crossed out and "Cherokee removal "
written in. Anything about this militia or how to access more info is
wanted
for: DAVID JACKSON CASADA I have a story about him in "Tales of Murray
County", just click on it. But I have nothing on the militia itself
when he was in it. There was a JOHN CASIAH (Casada?) in Spartanburg Co,
SC and there was a NICHOLAS BISHOP in Abbieville Co, SC who came from
Spartanburg
Co, NC. His daughter married John DOUGLAS and gave her a slave as a
wedding
present. They moved to McMinn Co, Ga where Nancy D (Bishop) DOUGLAS
died
and her estate settlement was contested because of the increase of the
slave that was given Nancy D. DOUGLAS. I have, since my article in
"Tales
of Murray County", found in the 1870 Fannin Co, GA Census John CASADA
age 84, gentleman born Georgia (?) with his son James M. CASADA born NC
(so was David Jackson CASADA, son of old John and brother of James M.
CASADA).
They had another brother, Wesley CASADA died in Murray County, GA.
Harrison
DAVIS was administrator. Wesley CASADA married Elizabeth GASTON in
McMinn
Co, TN. In 1836 John CASADA was living in Buncombe Co, NC where he
signed
off an estate settlement of his deceased father ABERHAM CASADA of Wayne
Co, KY. By 1846 John Casada had purchased land from Daniel KILLIAN
(formerly
of Buncombe Co, GA) in Union Co, GA in a part that became Fannin Co, in
1870.

He last lived in a home next to Murray Memorial Gardens. He belonged to
the Liberty Church in Cisco. He had a brother named Bill WEST, who died
from cancer. I am researching for an aunt, who was granddaughter of
Marion
WEST.

WATTS: I am seeking information regarding my Ancestor Levi WATTS (b.
1829
d.aft 1904) who settled in Winston/Cullman area of Alabama. Levi's 2nd
wife was Elisabeth CHILDERS whom he married in 1867 Blount AL.
Elisabeth
Childers married 1st to Andrew J. HUNTER 1860 Murray County Gerogia. AJ
was killed 1865 in the Civil War. Widow Hunter and her two children
were
to have travelled about 1867 by covered wagon from Murray County
accompnaied
by older brothers James Wiley Childers and Willis Childers, Jr and her
two Hunter children to Blount County where she married Levi Watts in
December
1867. Did Elisabeth know the Watts family prior to each having married?
WE recently found a letter from Levi Watts's sibling Rufus Ellis Watts
dated 1853 "State of Georgia, Whitfield County" included in Ellis's
military files when he served in Indian Wars of 1837-38 describing his
travels to Whitfield.
Also listed on 1850 Blount County Alabama census sibling Survantus
Watts
(b.1812 d.1900 buried Kemp Cem Winston Co AL). Survantus Watts is
brother
to listing on 1850 Blount Co AL census with brothers Samuel Johnson
Watts,
Rufus Ellis Watts, Jacob V. Watts, Ervin P.Watts, and one sister Martha
Watts who married Jacob Watts (mar 1841 Lumpkin CO GA). One more sister
is believed to belong, Annie Malissa Watts who married James Leroy Lusk
1847 Lumpkin CO GA (her oldest son who wrote his biography named George
Levi Survantus LUSK), though James Lusk died in Civil War and Annie
died
about the same time in Georgia and their 7 children were sent to Texas
as orphans. We recently found at Pomona Library (Calif) by author White
book, Soldiers in Indian Wars & Disturbances, listing R.E. Watts
&
Samuel J. Watts (along with three unclassified Wattses-- Bearden's CO
2nd
GA Mtd- John C., Rufus E., Samuel J., Tyler, and Wm Watts) listed as
having
served as Volunteers in Indian Wars, for Georgia's Bearden's Company
for
1837-38. The National Archives returned Rufus Ellis & Samuel J.
Watts's
Pension Papers, included in the folder was a letter from Rufus Ellis
Watts
dated 28 November 1853 "State of Georgia,Whitfield County " found
among the Watts's Pension files. Though we have Civil War military
records
for Jacob V.. Survantus, and Levi Watts, we still have not been able to
sort our Watts in Georgia/North Carolina from the many(!) other Wattses
and keep hoping to make a "connection". The older Alabama Watts
boys list being born NC with younger ones including Levi & Jacob V.
(1834) listing born GA...but which county_________???? Am willing to
share
information.

I have found that our GRGRGrandfather lived in Murray Co., GA in 1870
as

his
sons to change their name to BADGEWELL/BADGWELL- William C. b1852 SC,
John
T. b1860 GA , Jason b1864 GA - Can anyone find records between 1870 to

Kauper I am
looking for any detail on a Joshua MURRAY, born in 1799 in Georgia
[possibly
in Murray County]. I'm afraid that's all I know, but there is
speculation
that his father may have been named David Killpatrick Murray. Even a
county
of birth would be a help. He married a Celia Reid in Alabama and later
moved on to Mississippi.
