On June 30, 2000, I posted a Query in MERIWETHER county, GA re: James W. MOON and Mary DRAKE MOON(wife) who married in Hancock county, GA but by 1870 were living in MERIWETHER county in Greeneville district and one of their sons, NMC(Nathaniel M. Crawford) MOON was living with wife, Emily REYNOLDS and son, Willie, age 1, in Luthersville district per census of 1870.  James W. Moon had moved with his family from GREENE/HANCOCK county area of GA in 1848, prior to April, 1848, to TALLAPOOSA county, AL and settled in the town of Daviston, AL (TALLAPOOSA).  He is shown there in 1850 and 1860 census.  In 1870, he is in MERIWETHER county, GA and in 1880 they are living in Girard, RUSSELL county, AL, across river from Columbus, MUSCOGEE, GA.  Please read complete details re: this family in June 30, 2000 Query for MERIWETHER but respond to e-mail at "[email protected]." I am seeking information on Charles Grayson Jones, M.D. ( circa 1837-1924), who is buried in Woodbury, GA. I am his great-granddaughter. I believe that Charles Grayson Jones was the son of John R. and Elizabeth Jones. I have validated that he joined the Cavalry ( State Guards) for the War Between the States in Thomason in 1863, practiced medicine in Ellaville (where my grandmother, Lelia Beryl Jones, was born to his second wife) and died in Columbus ( where his son James Stacy Jones lived). My grandmother's half sister, Eula Payne, lived in Oglethorpe and had three daughters and a son. Two daughters, Lois and Eva Mae Payne, never married and lived there in the old home in town all their life.Their father may have been in public service and served in the Georgia Legislature. My grandmother married a Baptist minister in Coleman and they lived in Davisboro, Nashville, Conyers and Cornelia before moving to North Carolina. My parents met in Murphy, North Carolina. They married while my father was attending Emory and my mother was attending Mercer. I was raised in Summerville. Thanks in advance for any help or information.

My gr. gr. grandparents William F. YOUNG and Narcissa Ann BROWN were married in Meriwether County in 1855. I know from the 1880 census that William was born about 1824 in NC. I am trying to prove (or disprove) that he is the William F. YOUNG born to David S. YOUNG and Verlinda SULLIVAN Young on Feb. 10, 1824 in Stokes County, North Carolina. Does anyone recognize these names or have any information that would put David and Verlinda in Georgia in the 1840's or 50's? Thank you for your help in advance.

I'm looking for the grave of Isaac Newton Wright. I'm told he was buried in the Riggins Cemetery which is suppose to be located off of Dripping Rock Road towards Thompson Georgia. I was in the area last summer and looked for this cemetery but was unable to find it.  Isaac's wife Nancy Alford Wright and one son are buried in the Alford Cemtery at the Cove.  I did find these graves. As I live in Arizona, it may be quite awhile before I can come back but would appreciate help in locating this cemetery.
Thanks.

Looking for any information on Lewis E. BLACKSHEAR, his son Lewis E BLACKSHEAR or his wife Jewel IRVIN or her parents James Benjamin IRVIN and Mary Ida LEVERETT. Jewel IRVIN was born in Greenville on or about July 1 1885. She married Lewis E BLACKSHEAR on November 20th 1912. Lewis Elijah BLACKSHEAR died on May 21 1914.Their son Lewis Elijah BLACKSHEAR was born the following day on May 22 1914 (as his father passed away before his birth he was not titled Junior, although if it is easier to refer to him as such it is fine by me). I know the family was still in Greenville in the 1920 census. I found a listing for Jewel and Lewis in the 1920 census. I know that Jewel (my great grandmother) taught school for a number of years after the death of her husband. I imagine this was also in Greenville although she lived in Brunswick in the 1960’s when she died and I’m not sure when that move happened. I am looking for either records or newspaper clippings especially about the death of Lewis E BLACKSHEAR (1). However anything you can find on the marriage or on the IRVIN family would be greatly appreciated as well! Thanks so much for reading this and any help you or anybody else can provide. I have participated in Random Acts of Geneological Kindness in Harris County, TX and know the amount of time and effort that can go into getting this information!

I am seeking information about Belle MCLAUGHLIN born abt. 1864 in Meriwether County. She is the youngest daughter of Josiah T. McLaughlin and Mary Ann Jordan McLaughlin, and the sister of Benjamin Franklin McLaughlin. She is listed as a 16 year old female child of Mary McLaughlin in the 1880 Meriwether  census, p 216B. In the 1870 Meriwether census, p 401, there is an illegible entry for a female of the same age. Family Bible records of Josiah T. McLaughlin and Ben F. McLaughlin contain a record of all of Ben F's siblings except her. However the record may simply have been discontinued before her birth. Other information suggests she may have married Leander Frank FIELDER. There is a Belle Fielder (widow) of a similar age listed in the 1900 Meriwether census, Militia District #665 Greenville. E.D. 43, #224. I am particulary interested in her full name (all her siblings had 2 or 3 given names) and actual date of birth, plus any other information that anyone may have concerning her. Thanks,
Ben F. McLaughlin (great grandson of the Ben F. listed above)
P.S. This person is not the same as Mary Belle McLaughlin, the daughter of  Ben F. & Eliza McLaughlin, who was born in Meriwether county abt. 1872.

In the 1850 census, BUSBY'S were listed, which are my ancestors. William and Amanda C. were my great great   grandparents, and H.P BUSBY was my great grandfather. These all came to Texas in 1868, but there is an Isaac BUSBY 90 years old listed. Since he was so old, I am assuming he would be buried in Meriwether County.
