On this twenty fourth day of September in the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred and thirty two personally appeared before John Mironey, Noah W. Pittman and James Long - Justices of the Inferior Court now sitting as a Court of Ordinary in and for the county of Madison, Alexander Human, a resident of Capt. Colley’s Company District of Georgia Militia in the county of Madison and State of Georgia, aged Seventy One years, who being first duly sworn according to law doth on his oath make the following declaration in order to obtain the benefit of the provision made by the act of Congress passed June 7^th 1832. That he enlisted in the Army of the United States the fifth day of May 1778, ------ the 12^th and marched the 18^th May to Hallifax Old Courthouse and remained there two months. He was then marched back to Moore’s Creek North Carolina where he received a furlough untill the first of March following. But before the furlough was out, to wit, in November 1778, he was called upon to join the army. The company to which he belonged met at Caswell Courthouse North Carolina and joined the army at Charlotte North Carolina under the command of Col. Lightel and then served his nine months tour as per discharge here enclosed – he marched from Charlotte to the Ten Mile house (being ten miles from Charleston, South Carolina). He there received his arms and was placed under Capt. Donoho – Maj. Dickson – Capt. Lightel and marched to head quart. At Purysburgh – Gen’l Lincoln commanding. He there joined the Infantry, Col. Lightel took command of the Infantry and marched to Moore’s Bluff near Augusta – when the British evacuated Augusta he was marched after them to Brier Creek where an engagement ensued – known as Ash- Defeat – after the defeat, the survivors (of which he was one) crossed the Savannah River and marched to Purysburgh. There he joined Gen’l Lincoln and marched within seven miles of Stono Ferry – where he was encamped untill the battle of Stono – in which engagement he served – he was then taken sick and so remained untill he received his discharge as aforesaid. When discharged he belonged to the 4^th North Carolina Regiment of the Continental Line. He afterwards, to wit, in February 1781, entered as a volunteer for the purpose of engaging the British army. He continued in this service one month and five days – he served under Capt. John Graves, Maj. Parks and Col. Moore. He joined the army under Gen’l Green at the High Rock fort house river North Carolina – he was then marched to the battle of Guilford Courthouse in which engagement he served, under Gen’l Green, but has no discharge except the one before stated.

He hereby relinquishes every claim whatever to a pension or annuity except the present and he declares that his name is not on the pension roll of agency in any State.

Alexander Human, Having completed his Term of Service (Nine Months) in the Fourth N.C. Battalion, agreeable to Act of Assembly, he is hereby discharged and is entitled to all the Privileges specified in the Act of Assembly for completing the Continental Battalions of North Carolina. Given under my hand this Tenth day of August 1779.

On this thirty first day of March AD One thousand Eight Hundred and fifty five, personally appeared before me, a Justice of the Peace within and for the County and State aforesaid, Mrs. Elizabeth Human, aged Seventy Eight years, a resident of the Madison County in the State of Georgia, who being duly sworn according to law declares that she is the widow of Alexander Human, deceased, who was a Private in the Company commanded by in the Regiment of the Army of the Revolution, commanded by General Green in the said Revolutionary War. That her said husband enlisted at for the term of nine months and continued in actual service in said War for the term during the continuance of said War and was honorably discharged at the close of the said War on the    day of      AD      .

She further states that she was married to the said Alexander Human in Madison County Geo. On the        day of       AD 1809 by one Samuel Woods, a Justice of the Peace and that her name before her said marriage was Elizabeth Hawks. That her said husband died at home in Madison County Geo. on the fourth day of December AD 1853 and that she is now a widow.

There being no public or private record of her marriage that can be procured, she refers to her said husband’s Revolutionary Pension Claim recorded in the pension offices in Book E, Vol C, page 92, by N. Rice, Clk.

She makes this declaration for the purpose of obtaining the bounty land to which she may be entitled under the act approved March 5 1855.

We, Anny Human and Ruth Human, residents of Madison County in the state of Georgia, upon our oaths declare that the foregoing declaration was signed and acknowledged by Mrs. Elizabeth Human in our presence and that we believe from the appearance and statements of the applicant that she is the identical person she represents herself to be.

The foregoing declaration and affidavits were sworn to and subscribed before me on the day and year above written and I certify that I know the affidavits to be creditable persons, that the claimant is the person she represents herself to be and that I have no interest in the claim.

Personally appeared before me, a Justice of the Peace within & for the county aforesaid, Anny Human and Ruth Human, citizens of said county and state, who being duly sworn depose and say that they are well acquainted with Mrs. Elizabeth Human and her husband Alexander Human, deceased, in the lifetime of the said Alexander Human and knew them to live together and cohabit as husband and wife and to be so reputed. That they saw the said Alexander Human when a corps and saw him buried and that the said Elizabeth Human is now the widow of the said Alexander Human dec’d.

On this seventeenth day of April One Thousand Eight Hundred and Fifty Five personally appeared before me, Walter Griffith, one of the justices of the Inferior Court in and for the county aforesaid, Mrs. Elizabeth Human, aged Seventy Nine years, who being duly sworn according to law doth on her oath make the following declaration in order to obtain the benefit of the provisions made by an act of Congress passed the 3rd day of February 1853. That she is the widow of Alexander Human who was a Revolutionary Pensioner and resident of the county and state aforsesaid and drew semi annually on the fourth of March and September the annual pension of $33.88 from the agency at Savannah, Georgia. She further declares that she was married to the said Alexander Human on the 6th day of September AD 1810 that her husband the said Alexander Human died on the fourth day of December 1853 that she was married to him at the time above stated and that she is now a widow and that she has never before made application for a pension.

Personally appeared before me Frederick Human and after being duly sworn according to law deposeth and saith that the enclosed slip is the original record of the marriage of Alexander Human and Elizabeth Human formerly Elizabeth Hawks kept as a family record and he believes it to be the handwriting of the said Alexander Human and that the said record has been in his possession since the death of the said Alexander Human and that Mrs. Elizabeth Human is now a widow and he further swears that Alexander Human died in said county on the 4^th day of December 1853.
