Pittman Family Cemetery
Located on the Pittman Matthews Road near Sanford, Madison County,
Georgia Surveyed by Granite Monument: Pittman Cemetery. Donated
by Lieutenant James Pittman 1845 from his original US Government land grant
signed by George Washington, for service in the Revolutionary War. Erected in
memory of Lt Pittman by his descendants 1953.
Wooden Shed/Arbor: Erected in memory of G. Booth 1983 On the right side of the cemetery, on the grassy side, there are
unmarked graves. At one time there were field stones that marked these graves,
but long ago they were removed to make lawn care easier. When the light is right
you can see the depressions made by these graves. There is a marker stating "Slave
