Gold Mine School Pupils 1891.
This school was located in the Midway Community near Midway Church and the Glaze Family Cemetery.
 

 The first one-room log schoolhouse in the old picture series in the Journal. Only one of the pupils in the above photograph is living today, Mrs. Annie Norman, widow of the late W. E. (Stonewall) Norman. Mrs Norman will be 97 years old in May of this year and lives on Dallas St. in Lincolnton. She submitted the photograph for publication. (We know that Frances Ann "Annie" Glaze Norman was born in 1878, this picture would have been published in 1975. The names listed include the married name of the females. She died January 27, 1976)
