Mrs.
Sara
Nell Scott Sykes, of Lamar County passed away Friday, February 4, 2011
at her residence. Mrs. Sykes was
born July 19, 1925 in Swainsboro
Emanuel County,
Georgia to the late Mr. George Lewis Scott and
the late Mrs. Alma Lee Coleman
Scott, and was also preceded
in death by her son, Dr. Billy Wayne Sykes. She Retired after 50 years
of service from the William Carter Company. Mrs. Sykes was a member of
the West Sunnyside Congregational Holiness Church in Griffin.
Survivors include: Her Daughter, Deborah (& Bob) Zellner of Culloden ; 4 Grandchildren, Drew (& Nicole) Zellner of East Stroudsburg, PA ; David (& Rebecca) Zellner of Commerce ; Lee Sykes of Barnesville ; & Michell Garrison of Barnesville ; 4 Great Grandchildren, Hannah and Kala Zeiger, & Zoey and Ella Zellner ; Her Best Friend, Rev. Mary Jo Willoughby ; Caregiver - Diane Holliman ; & Her Daughter-in-law, Caregiver, & Loving Friend, Sandy Sykes Johnson. Funeral Services for Mrs. Sara Nell Sykes will be conducted Monday, February 7, 2011 in the West Sunnyside Congregational Holiness Church in Griffin with the Reverend Hugh Smith and the Reverend Mary Jo Willoughby officiating. Interment will follow in Lamar Memory Gardens in Barnesville. The family will receive friends at the Williams Funeral Home on Sunday evening, February 6, 2011 |
Dr.
Billy Wayne Sykes, 60, of Barnesville died Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2005, at
Upson Regional Medical Center in Thomaston. Billy was born Dec. 9, 1944
to
Billy Joe Sykes and Sara
Nell Scott Sykes.
Services
were held Friday, Oct. 28, at West Sunnyside Community Church. Revs.
Hugh Smith and Joe Howell officiated. Burial was in Lamar Memory
Gardens. 2005

Mr.
Billy Joe Sykes, of Milner, passed away Monday, September 23, 2013 in a
Spalding County healthcare facility. He was
born September 19, 1923 in Pell City, Alabama to the late Mr.
George Leroy Sykes and Mrs. Nellie Mize (Sykes).
Mr.
Sykes is also preceded in death by his son, Billy Wayne Sykes, and by a
brother, Sam Sykes and his first wife Sara Nell Scott Sykes who passed
in 2011.
Mr.
Sykes retired from the State
of Georgia Department of Transportation
as a Surveyor, and was a
veteran, having served in
the U.S. Army.
Survivors
include: Wife, Edith Sykes
of Milner ; A Daughter,Debi (& Bob) Zellner of Culloden ;
Step-Children, Priscilla Conger of Spanaway, WA, Carol McDaniel of
Norcross, Lynn Wilson (& Randy) of Cataula, and Janet
Stackhouse of Mirara Beach, FL ; and Numerous Grandchildren and Great
Grandchildren.
Funeral Services for Mr. Billy Sykes will be conducted from the Graveside on Tuesday, September 24, 2013 in Lamar Memory Gardens with Reverend Franklin Gibson officiating. |
Mrs. Edith
Lucille Drake Sykes, of Milner passed away on Saturday, February 08,
2014 in a Columbus Healthcare Facility. Mrs. Sykes was born Sept. 15,
1923 in Newnan to the late Mr. John Luther Drake and to the late
Mrs. Pinky McClendon Drake. Mrs. Sykes was their last
surviving child.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Sykes, her Sons, Eddie and Larry McSwain, and her Grandchildren, Rusty Ross, Lou Anne English, and Brenda Petoski. She was retired form the William Carter Company and was a member of the New Life Baptist Church. Survivors include her Daughters Priscilla Conger of Spanaway, WA ; Carol McDaniel of Norcross ; Lynn Wilson (& Randy) of Cataula ; & Janet Stackhouse (& C.E. Frazier) of Miramar Beach, FL ; 10 Grandchildren ; 24 Great Grandchildren ; & 6 Great Great Grandchildren. Funeral Services for Mrs. Edith Drake Sykes will be conducted on Monday, February 10, 2014 from the Chapel of Williams Funeral Home with the Rev. Derek Lovelady officiating. Interment will follow in Lamar Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the Williams Funeral Home on Monday, February 10, 2014. |
