>BENNETT “PETE” CREWS – 71 -
Mr. Bennett “Pete” Crews,  of Barnesville passed away Friday, May 9, 2014 at his home. Mr. Crews was born Aug. 9, 1942, son of the late Bennett Franklin and Nellie Mae Littleton Crews. He retired from J. and J. Metal Works. He was an avid Georgia Tech football fan as well as a fan of the Atlanta Braves and the Atlanta Falcons.
 Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Susie Ennis Crews; son and daughter-in-law, William Callaway “Cal” and Jeannie Crews; daughter and son-in-law, Cristy and Glen Allen; sons, David Blake Crews Sr. and Thomas F. Crews; and family friend, Donnie Benton all of Barnesville; 10 grandchildren, Chad Crews, Jarod Crews, Chase Crews, Quinton Crews, Taylor Allen, Sydney Allen, Kirstie Crews, Blake Crews Jr., Jordan Crews and Cole Crews; five great-grandchildren; and a faithful pet, Scooby Doo.

>EUCA ANN FREEMAN – 75 - Retired Cosmetologist
Mrs. Euca Ann Freeman, 75, of Milner, passed away Sunday, June 1, 2014 at Brightmoor Hospice in Griffin. Mrs. Freeman was born Sept. 18, 1938 in Lamar County, daughter of the late Rufus and Mattie Parker, and was a retired cosmetologist. She enjoyed going to church and attended services at many different churches in the area. She also loved music, cooking, going to the Opry House and Buckner’s and spending time in her orchard.
 Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Steve Polk of Flat Rock, N.C.; and a grandson, Ryan Polk. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Reginald Freeman. >WENDELL MORGAN – 87 -
Mr. Wendell Morgan, of Milner, Ga., passed away Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at Emory Midtown Hospital.
Mr. Morgan was born Dec. 4, 1926 in Griffin, Ga, son of the late Flores and Elsie Brown Morgan.  Mr. Morgan graduated from Milner High School in 1945 and was soon after drafted into the U.S. Army where he was stationed in Germany. After the war, he returned to Milner and married the late Patsy Crawley in 1950. Mr.    Morgan and his father started Morgan Dairy Farm in 1953. Wendell was a member of Bethel Baptist Church since he was 10 years old where he was very active and served as deacon for many years.
 Survivors include six children, sons and daughters-in-law Darrell Morgan, Jeff and Dennise Morgan, Jamie and Kay Morgan; daughters and sons-in-law Melinda and Lee Studstill, Lauren and Mitch Clowe and Amy Morgan; 16 grandchildren, Courtney and Brett Craine, Brandi and Thomas Manley, Wade Morgan, Reese and Jenea Morgan, Andrea Morgan, Andy and Brittany Beauchamp, Brooke O'Leary, Tripp and Christine Morgan, Jaime and Jeff Rawlins, Will Morgan, Summer Studstill, Ross Clowe, Reid Clowe, Luke Mangrum and Veronica Mangrum; and seven great-grandchildren.
 Funeral services for Mr. Wendell Morgan will be held Saturday, June 7, 2014 at Rock Springs Church in Milner, Ga. Rev. Swayne Poole and Dr. Benny Tate will officiate. Interment will follow in the Milner Baptist Church Cemetery. Friends may visit the family on Friday, June 6, 2014 at the funeral home.

 Mr. James O. “Jimmy” Williams, of Jackson passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at his residence. Mr. Williams, born Feb. 26, 1947 was preceded in death by his parents, the late Mr. Bernard Williams and the late Mrs. Mary Goggans Williams. Jimmy Graduated from Griffin High School in 1965, and attended Griffin Technical College, where he served as the first class President graduating in Electronics. Mr. Williams was a Veteran, having served his country in the U.S. Army. He Retired from the Griffin Daily News in 2010.
 He is survived by his fiancée - Lenora Walker;Sister,Sadie Phillips; Niece, Pam Phillips; Nephew, Richard (& Glenda) Phillips;Great Niece,  Maghan Phillips; Lenora’s children; Cathy, Kent, and Camden Campbell, and Brandon Walker, as well as several cousins and special friends.
 Funeral Services for Mr. James O. “Jimmy” Williams will be conducted Monday, May 2, 2011 in the Chapel of Williams Funeral Home with Pastor Cheryl Vaughn and Pastor Tom Summers officiating. >NORA DELL “POLLY” FARLEY -
Nora Dell Farley, died June 28, 2014. She  was born to the late Zylner and Mary Banks Farley. The fourth of eight children, she was predeceased by three siblings, Roosevelt Farley, Clifford Farley and Floya Mae Crawford.
Nora attended Lamar County schools and worked with the Burnett family as a housekeeper for the Burnett family for many years and at the Bill Mayes Truck Stop and Dundee Mill, where she retired after 38 years. Nora joined Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church.
 Survivors include her children, Robert (Sharla) Farley of Milner, Janet Johnson of Barnesville, Richard Farley of McDonough and Cynthia Farley of Griffin; grandchildren, Kenya Farley, Robert Farley Jr. (Nakia), Brian Durham, Ralphael Durham, Richard Farley Jr., Jarvis Farley, Kelsey Smikes and MarKirra Grier; great-grandchildren, Kyler Farley O’Brian Favors, Kaleb Farley and Kasen Farley; siblings, Daisy Gaynor of Cleveland Heights, Ohio, Willie Farley and Shirley Farley, both of Barnesville and Joseph (Leslie) Farley of Cleveland, Ohio; a great-uncle, Billy Virden of Cleveland; and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

>Daniel HARDAWAY – Retired- Aldora Mills - died recently.
Services were held Friday, Aug. 22, 2014 at East Mt. Sinai Baptist Church. Pastor Bill Blackmon officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Mr. Hardaway was born Oct. 31, 1932, in New York City, Lillian Hardaway’s only son. At age 9 months he and his mother returned to Barnesville. He was educated in Lamar County schools. He retired from Aldora Mills. He joined Midway CME Church.
 Dan was married to the former Mary Jo Mack 60 years. > He was preceded in death by two sons, Jerome and Rickey Hardaway; sister, Ruth Dixson; sisters-in-law, Stella and Yvonne Hardaway; brothers and sisters-in-law, John Lewis, Andrew and Willie Floyd Hardaway; and brothers-in-law, Bobby Dixson, John Dixson and Rufus Underwood;

Mrs. Mary Rose Peugh, of Barnesville, passed away Thursday, Aug. 28, 2014, at her home. Mrs. Peugh was born June 20, 1926 in Barnesville, to the late Samuel and Anna McCard Green. She was a member of Milner Baptist Church and was retired from the William Carter Company.
 Survivors include her husband of 69 years, Johnny Peugh; daughter, Sharon Gilbert; son and daughter-in-law, Barry and Christi Peugh, all of Barnesville; five grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Graveside memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 21, 2014 at Greenwood Cemetery with pastor Ryan Christopher officiating.

Mr. Louis Randall “Randy” Reagan passed away Thursday October 22, 2009 at his residence. Mr. Reagan was a native of Baltimore, Maryland but made his home in Lamar County for a number of years. He was born to the late Mr. Louis Reagan Sr. and to Mrs. Karen Bodani Margroum.
 
Survivors include his wife; Kimberly Faye Farr Reagan, his son- Josh Brown, of Barnesville, and Christopher Reagan of Virginia, daughter,-Bridgette Reagan of Virginia, Brothers- Scott Margroum, and Tim Reagan. Mother-Karen Margroum, Stepfather- Dennis Margroum.
Funeral Services for Mr. Randall “Randy” Reagan Jr. will be conducted on Wednesday October 29, 2009  in the Chapel of Williams Funeral Home. Burial will be private. Friends May visit with the family Tuesday October 27, 2009.

Mrs. Kimberly Faye Farr Reagan, passed away on Sunday, March 28, 2010 in an Upson County Healthcare Facility. Mrs. Reagan was a native of Fulton County, but made her home here in Lamar County for a number of years. She was born to the late Mr. Bobby Gene Farr and to Mrs. Reba Faye Corley Cochran.
She was preceded in death by her husband Mr. Louis Randall “Randy” Reagan. She attended Rock Springs Church in Milner.
Survivors include: Son, Josh Brown of Barnesville; Mother & Step-father, Reba & James Cochran of Barnesville ; Brother, Keith Farr of Senoia; and a number of Aunts, Uncles, & Cousins.

Mrs. Evelyn Mangham Wells, of Milner passed away Thursday, Nov. 13, 2014 at Heritage Inn in Barnesville. She was born April 13, 1918 in Griffin, daughter of the late Lynn and Lena Bell Perkins Cauthen. Mrs. Wells was a member of First Baptist Church of Barnesville and retired from the William Carter Company. She loved gardening and fishing.
 Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Bobby and Margie Mangham and Leon and Yvonne Mangham, all of Milner; grandchildren, John Mangham, Brian Mangham, Larissa Mangham, Jean Smith, Judy Champe and Bill Wells; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Lewis "Wilson" Price, age 77, passed away Friday, Nov. 7, 2014 at a Lamar County healthcare facility.
 Mr. Price is preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Rebecca Ruth Bass Price. Mr. Price was a foreman at Snapper research and development and was a member of Lilla Memorial Baptist Church. Mr. Price was devoted to his family and his kids whom he loved deeply.
 Survivors included four sons, Lucius Price of Barnesville, Vincent Price (and Barbara) of Barnesville, Stephen Price (and Penny) of Barnesville and David Price (and Elaine) of Barnesville; one Daughter, Charlotte Johnson (and Joey) of Barnesville; one brother, Floyd Price (and Janet) of Milner; 12 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Barbara Lee Greer Clark, of Barnesville passed away Saturday,Nov. 8, 2014 in a Spalding County healthcare facility. A native of Spalding County, she had lived in Barnesville for most of her life.
 She was the daughter of the late Mr. Ira Winfred Greer and the late Mrs. Ruby Elenar Crane Greer; and was also preceded in death by her husband, David Clark; and by her son, Richard Johnston. Mrs. Clark had been a floor lady with The William Carter Company and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Barnesville.
 Survivors include her granddaughter, Angela Johnston of San Diego, Calif.; her sister, Ann Harper of Riverdale; and her daughter-in-law, Martha Woodruff.

Mr. Randy Bankston, of Barnesville passed away Monday, October 27, 2014 at his home. He was born February 21, 1953 in Thomaston, son of Bobbie Clark Bankston and the late Jerry Bankston.
 
Survivors in addition to his mother include his sister, Dorothy (Dot) Nelms of Barnesville; brother and sister-in-law, Terry and Rachel Bankston of Covington; five nieces and nephews; seven great nieces and nephews; and two great-great nieces and nephews.
 
Graveside services will be at 11:00 Wednesday at Greenwood Cemetery with Rev. Garth Forster officiating. The family will receive friends at the Breedlove Memorial Chapel Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.

>Mr. RICHARD BALLARD, Sr., (Dick) – 82 –  Airline Pilot
Barnesville, passed away Monday, September 29, 2014 at the Monroe County Hospital in Forsyth. He was born January 15, 1932 in Laurens County, Georgia, son of the late Arthur and Gladys Herndon Ballard. Mr. Ballard began his passion for flying as a crop duster before serving in the U.S. Air Force. He retired as an airline pilot for Northwest Airlines and was a member of Ramah Primitive Baptist Church.  Mr. Ballard loved spending time with his family, boating and camping.
  He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Grace Ballard; three daughters and sons-in-law, Beverly and Arthur Jinks of Jonesboro, Vicky and Bruce Gant of Titusville, FL, Rhonda and Harry Hargens of Hampton; son, Richard Ballard, Jr. (Rick) of Hampton; six grandchildren, Erin Jinks, Whitney Jinks, Amanda Biggs, Christopher Hargens, Linda Keating and Patrick Hargens; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Faye Biskup of Highland Falls, NY; sister and brother-in-law, Arthine and Herman Hudson of Dublin GA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
 He was preceded in death by his sister, Juanita Brown. Funeral services will be at 11:00 Friday at Ramah Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Kurt Bacon officiating. The interment will be at Ramah Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will be at their home and receive friends at Breedlove Memorial Chapel Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00.

Mrs. Jewell Jones Allmon, of Zebulon, died Monday, Oct. 27, 2014, at Upson Regional Medical Center.
 Funeral services for Mrs. Allmon were held on Thursday, Oct. 30, 2014, at 2 p.m. at Valley Grove Baptist Church. Rev. Joe Allen and Dr. Derrick Keeter officiated and burial was in Greenwood Cemetery in Barnesville.
 Mrs. Allmon was a native of Barnesville. Until her retirement she was employed by the William Carter Company in Barnesville. She was a member of the Valley Grove Baptist Church.
 Mrs. Allmon is survived by two daughters, Judy (Larry) Doggett of Thomaston and Debra (Freddie) Crummie of Barnesville; two sons, Jerry (Diane) Martin of Milner and Ronald Martin of Barnesville; two sisters, Christine Williams of Barnesville and Evelyn Cochran of Griffin; and one brother, Doug (June) Jones of Columbus. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, seven stepchildren, several step-grandchildren and several step-great-grandchildren.
 She was preceded in death by her husbands, Charles MartinJ.C. Truitt (and) William Allmon; a sister, Elsie Jones; two brothers, Johnny and Sammy Jones; and one son, David Martin.

Mr. Ellis Spencer Burch, of Barnesville passed away Thursday, Nov. 27, 2014 at his residence.
A native of Coffee County, Mr. Burch had made his home in Barnesville for a number of years. He was retired as an officer from Norfolk Southern Railways and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Barnesville.
 Survivors include his beloved wife of 56 years, Bennie Burch of Barnesville; one son, Clay Burch of Barnesville; one daughter, Aleasha Burch of Barnesville; his future son-in-law, Matt Daniel of Barnesville; one brother, Leon Burch (and Alene) of Douglas; one sister, Dewilda Wood of Griffin; two brothers-in-law, Wayne Pierce (and Dianne) of Loganville and Troy Pierce Jr. (and Dee) of Sautee, Ga.; a number of nieces and nephews, and his beloved dog Buddy.

Mrs. Mable L. Deraney, formerly of Barnesville, Ga., passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2014 at Gracemont Assisted Living in Cumming, Ga. - Mrs. Deraney was born in Smithfield, N.C., on Dec. 26, 1930.
 She is preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Lewis; husband of 53 years, Joseph Andrew Deraney Sr.; sons, Richard M. Deraney Sr. and Jim M. Deraney; and grandson, Richard M. Deraney Jr. Mrs. Deraney was co-owner/operator with her late husband of Deraney’s Department Store in Barnesville, Ga., for 41 years.
 Survivors include her sons and their spouses, Dr. Stephen A. and Anita Deraney, Joseph A. and Tammy Deraney and Robert C. Deraney; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

<Mr. Davis Burrell, 73 - 2015
Atlanta, Davis passed away Wednesday, January 28, 2015, at his home. Davis was born November 2, 1941 in Cornelia. He graduated from Emory University with a degree in History and received his Master in Education from Georgia State University. Davis’ lifelong career was spent in the Dekalb County school system where he held numerous positions in both the classroom and administration. He made a difference in the lives of many students and friends.
  Survivors include his sister, Patricia Hill (Harry) of Florence, SC; his brother, Doug Burrell (Nancy) of Cornelia, GA; his partner of 52 years, William Jackson of Atlanta; and a host of friends and extended family members.

Barnesville; Bertha Edwards passed away Friday, Nov. 14, 2008 in a Barnesville Healthcare Facility. She was born in Lamar Co., Ga. on July 1, 1916 to the late Edward Thomas Adams, Sr. and the late Mary Ella Stocks Adams. Mrs. Edwards was a long time employee of American Mills as a textile specialist. A long time member of the Meansville Baptist Church and a loving, wonderful Mother, known to everyone as “Maw-Maw”.
 She was preceded in death by her husband Ray S. Mrs. Barbara Pippin Andrews, of Barnesville, passed away Thursday, Feb. 5, 2015 at the home of her daughter in Griffin.  Mrs. Andrews was born Feb, 17, 1943. She was a member of Orchard Hill Baptist Church and previously Mt. Gilead Baptist Church for about 10 years, teaching Sunday School for the 2-year-old children’s class. Mrs. Andrews enjoyed traveling and cross-stitch. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother.
Mrs. Andrews was preceded in death by her parents, Waymon and Annie Laura Goggins Pippin; and brother, Waymon Thomas Pippin.
Survivors include her husband, William David Andrews of Barnesville; daughter and son-in-law, Wanda and Storey Bailey of Griffin; and sisters, Nedra Thaxton of Yatesville, Laverne Corley of Barnesville, Betty Abernathy of Greenwood, S.C., and Deborah Craddock of Griffin.
Funeral services for Mrs. Barbara Pippin Andrews will be held Monday, Feb. 9, 2015 at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Haisten McCullough Funeral Home. Pastor Nelson Grist will officiate. Burial will follow in Lamar Memory Gardens. Friends may visit the family on Sunday, Feb. 8, 2015 from 3-5 p.m. at the funeral home. >DOT MCGUIRE ABBOTT “Maw Maw”  – 79 -
Mrs. “Maw Maw” Dot Abbott, 79, of Barnesville, passed away Friday, Feb. 20, 2015, at her home. Mrs. Abbott was born January 1, 1936 in Lamar County, daughter of the late Earl Austin McGuire and Lillie Bell Evans McGuire. She was a long time member of New Life Baptist Church and recently joined Rock Springs Congregational Methodist Church. Mrs. Abbott was a lifetime Sunday school teacher and helped lead the New Choices Bible Study. She was a true servant of God, teacher, leader, friend, mentor, encourager, keeper and counselor to all people. She loved ice cream and blizzards from Dairy Queen.
 She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Sandy Abbott and a daughter, Denise Abbott Rooks.
 Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda Abbott Miller and Freddy Miller of Barnesville; eight grandchildren, Shanda Rooks and fiancé, Mark Trent, Kevin and Nikee Rooks, Jeremy and Allison Rooks, Nathaniel Rooks, Bethany Smith and fiancé, Jeffery English, David Alexander Rooks, Hannah and Travis Poole, Jordan and Darrell Thompson, great-grandchildren, Katelyn and Josh Raybon, Evan Robinson, MacKenzie Rooks, Josh Rooks and James Rooks, great-great-grandchildren, Camden Poole, Raegyn Smith, Eden Poole, Adilyn Raybon, and Uriah Poole, sisters, Earlene Davis of CA, and Marilyn McGuire of FL; special cousin, Faye McIntosh and several nieces and nephews.
 Funeral services were held Sunday, Feb. 22, 2015 at New Life Baptist Church with Dr. Mike Ruffin, Dr. Benny Tate and Rev. Derek Lovelady officiating. Interment followed in the Greenwood Cemetery. Ms. Lilla Jane Green, of Barnesville passed away Thursday, April 2, 2015 at her residence.  She was the daughter of the late Mr. William Preston Green and the late Mrs. Thelma Akridge Green.  Ms. Green retired from the Lamar County school system, having been a teacher for 33 years. She loved to travel and read.  Ms. Green was a member of Pine View Baptist Church where she was a very active member.
Survivors include two nieces, Lynn Green Anglin (& Tim), and Lisa Ann Mattison; two great-nieces, Loree Jane Selman (& Brad) and Tiffany Mattison (& Robbie); three great-nephews, Brent Mattison (& Dianna), Walt Anglin (& Ashli), & Chance Mattison Young; and a cousin, Tassie (& Paul) Bendus of Eugene, Oregon. >Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, April 4, 2015 at 12 noon in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Williams Funeral Home on Friday, April 3, 2015 from 6-8 p.m.

>GEORGE OGDEN PIPPIN, Jr. – 70 - Retired Delta Airlines
Mr. George Ogden Pippin Jr., of Barnesville, formerly of Fayetteville passed away Monday, July 20, 2015, at Sunny Grove Assisted Living Center.  Mr. Pippin was a native of Barnesville, born June 24, 1945, son of the late George Ogden Sr. and Hattie White Pippin. He retired from Delta Airlines after 36 years, was a veteran of the United States Air Force and was of the Baptist faith.
 Survivors include his sister, Harriet Pippin of Atlanta and several cousins and their spouses, Jackson and Jackie Pippin, Sauney and Geraldine Pippin and Horace and Jane Pippin, all of the Red Bone Community and Claudine White of Barnesville.
 Graveside services for Mr. George Ogden Pippin, Jr. will be at 11:00 Thursday at the Ramah Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery with Chaplain Rex Allen officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00 until 11:00 before the service.
