J. P. (Alfred Presley) Harper

Milledgeville News, Friday, October 13, 1911

"Mr. J. P. Harper Died in Macon Wednesday"

Wednesday morning, Mr. J. P. Harper, father of Mrs. J. H. Ennis of this city, died at his home in Macon after a short illness.  He was 60 years of age and well known here and throughout this section of Georgia.  Capt. Ennis went over immediately on receipt of intelligence of his death, joining Mrs. Ennis there.  The funeral occurred in Devereaux.  The entire community joins in extending sympathy to the family.

(Note:  Mrs. Ennis was Alfred's daughter - Alfred died October 11, 1911)

Ruthie Harper

Mrs. Ruthie Harper, mother of Mr. B. I. Harper, died at the residence of her son in this county on Sunday the 13th inst.  Mrs. Harper was an estimable old lady and we deeply sympathize with her relatives and friends in their bereavement.

"Death of Mr. A. P. Harper"

Mr. A. P. Harper died at his home in Macon last Wednesday morning. His remains were laid to rest Thursday at Devereaux in Hancock County. Mr. Harper was a native of Hancock and was sixty years of age.  He was a resident of this city for a number of years and had many friends and acquaintances here, who regret his death. Mr. Harper was the father of Mrs. J. H. Ennis, who was at his bedside when he passed away.  Capt. Ennis went over to Macon Wednesday morning after receiving the news of his death. The sympathy of our people goes out to Mrs. Ennis and other members of the bereaved family.
