with approx. 5-6 unmarked & fieldstone marker graves.Cemetery originated with burial of William Kennedy - First lieutenant, C.S.A. ( t.s.= d. 06-15-1862' ) Died in action June 14, 1862'. (Eldest son of Ambrose Kennedy and Martha (Patsy) Gibson. He was born June 7, 1838'. When he was killed in Civil War action, his father had him buried under the scuppernong arbor on the family plantation, because the boy had spent so many hours reading and studying there as a youth.
