Seeking information on my BOSWELL ancestors who lived in Gordon and surrounding counties. AUGUSTUS W. BOSWELL born about 1838 to Richard Jackson Boswell and Rhoda Martin. Gus married EMMA BLACK in 1859 in Gordon county. Would like to learn their children, and any other information I can about them. I descend through Gus's brother JAMES MARTIN BOSWELL. • When did Black's and the Miller's get to Georgia Robert Black b:1812 w: Sara Whitside b:1820 Dennis Miller b? Martha G---. b:1817 I find them and their large families in Sugar Valley, Calhoun, Springtown, Plainville Ga. The large families mooved to Texas in 1867 and I have pretty good data from there forward. I need to find data on when and where they came from. The 1830 Gordon Co. census shows Robert and Sara born in N C. The book, Climb The Hills of Gordon , by Reeves has been of great help. Lost it mooving and cannot replace it . • Could someone please look for a book entitled "Noblette Indian Mission", by Jewell R. Albertson. I have been told that there is a mention of a fire that killed JULIA MAUDE TRIMBLE CAUSBY. • I was wondering if any one can give me any information on the following > Small burial site at 136 & 225 in Nickelville. I am searching for a burial site for one Rody Caroline Greeson that died in early 1900's and was buried on a hill just off 136. My Aunt Bunnie Bell Greeson Henderson a young 80ish, wishes to visit her mother's grave before she dies and I can not locate the burial site. My Aunt was very young when her mother died and she remembers walking up a hill to the burial site. Any information one cares to share with me could make one lady very happy in her late years. • My great-grandfather was John Matthew Shelhorse (b. May 15, 1845 d. Dec 18, 1933) who was born in Gordon County and served in Talbott's Cavalry Scouts of the Georgia State Line during the War Between the States. In 1870 he married Louisa Adeline Mealor "Liza" (b. Feb 25, 1850 d. Feb 10, 1885) before moving from Gordon County to Union Church, MS and, later, to Cleburne, TX. After Liza died, he married her sister, Martha Ann Mealor (b. Jan 1, 1859 d. Aug 17, 1909). Liza and Martha were both from Georgia. There was a Mealor serving in John's Cavalry company. I have a photograph of Liza and Martha's father which is labelled "Mr. Mealor". Noow for my question; does anyone know anything about the Mealor family in Gordon County? I have never been able to identify Mr. Mealor. This is the only dead-end I reached in my family research. • Looking for information on John Rolin Brooks and Fayenettie "Nettie" Josephine Devaney Brooks who lived in Gordon County as late as June 22, 1910. They were farmers, probably renters or sharecroppers. My Mother, Lula Belle Brooks, was born in Gordon Co, Ranger GA on Nov. 6, 1909. "Nettie" family's name, was born somewhere in AL as were her parents, names not known.Nettie had a sister names Magie married to Drewery D.Weeks and they lived in Ducktown, TN during this same time period. Would like any tidbit of info on this elusive grandmother in particular. I know she was of Irish descent and born in AL but not much else.
